I was looking at some top DH tanks and the choices they make at a couple of important nodes.
Fodder for the flames and Elyssian decree seem pretty split.
One area that i am tinkering with as i am learning Vengeance (decent experience as a “serious casual” tanking with warrior) is the choice between Aura of Pain and Felblade.
Having tanked with warrior, I miss its dash. Havoc has felrush. It is a shame that Vengeance doesn’t have felrush, too. It just seems like it should be a DH base ability rather than class based.
I guess I like the control the Decree gives both for pulls and damage and I like the extra mobility that felblade gives. It is on a 1 minute timer, but I feel like a mobility tank can always use more mobility.
A long way of asking a question: why does Aura of Pain look like the automatic pick?
is there something beyond just the extra damage from crit going on with this talent? does it synergize with another talent or something else in the tree to generate souls, frailty stacks or self heals?
Mobility and Fury generation isn’t a problem (speaking from my own experience). That is why I wouldn’t choose Felblade. 2 charges of Infernal Strike and in some cases Vengeful Retreat is worth talenting into as well, pretty mobile tank. 6% more crit on one of the buttons you press the most in all situations isn’t terrible, especially in dungeons with high target count. Its just more throughput for you.
With ED vs FttF, it is a personal choice. Something that you can control vs RNG and potential bad timing.
decree gains value in m+ with 4pc because of the souls generated. while fodder demon can just eat a brand spread. while for st raiding fodder wins 100% of the time compared to ed
you have infernal strike, but keep in mind to jump at the edge of the pack not in the middle of it.
i mean, if you like felblade, use it. theres no harm in it, just not that if you do use it your not going to use it to engage mobs. it’ll be your last prio ability use so basically your never get to press it if you want to optmize. aura of pain is picked cause the its just extra damage on immo aura. vdh loves crit and immo does smol dam so every little extra counts to have all your immo aura ticks crit. not to mention it feeds tin VF. but frankly i dont think its makes a difference in the long run if yoru just playing in a omega casual setting/for fun. you can run felblade if you want just know that felblaade is so undertuned that its just not worth the global being spent in it
lol never thought of that
ya jumping in the middle of packs make al lthe melees sync up to you, hit your back where you cant parry and dodge, and just wreck u
yeah, back stabby not so good for parry tank ( or any tank obv)
