Vengeance DH Suggestions

Dear Blizzard,

I have a friend who is on the FBI watch list named Pepis who asked, nay, begged for one of my forum threads addressing some of the issues currently plaguing VDH. Here are some of the suggestions detailed below, as well as an explanation as to why I think these should be implemented.




Suggestions

  • Soul Cleave: Now hits all targets in front of you, decreased after 5 targets (instead of hard-capped at 5 targets)
  • Calcified Spikes: Now applies the damage reduction upon applying Demon Spikes rather than once Demon Spikes falls off
  • Demon Spikes: Now passively grants the armor bonus at all times. Activating Demon Spikes grants parry chance and the DR from Calcified Spikes (if talented), and you can now parry attacks hitting you from the back.
  • Sigil of Flame: Threat generated by this ability now multiplied by 4 (VDH only).
  • Throw Glaive: Threat generated by this ability now multiplied by 4 (VDH only).



Explanations

  • Soul Cleave: The main reason for this change is that a tank should never be faced with a target capped situation since it relies on uncapped AoE to grab agro. I understand this will increase the power of talents like Wounded Quarry, but I would recommend implementing this change nonetheless in order to address their inherent agro issues.
  • Calcified Spikes: It always seemed strange to me that the benefit of this talent occurs after the buff falls off. As a tank player, when I press a defensive, I need the defensive to come out, now 12 seconds later when the buff ends.
  • Demon Spikes: The reason behind this change is that VDH seems significantly weaker to melee swings than every other tank in the game. While I appreciate that this comes with the territory and that every tank should have their niche, I think the mark has been missed with this, and too often I see VDH get one shot the minute 1-2 mobs hit them in the back. The margin for error seems even smaller than Prot Warrior for getting hit in the back.
  • Sigil of Flame and Throw Glaive: The idea behind this change is simple: I am sick and tired of pulling agro off VDH, especially off mobs that were pulled with Sigil of Flame but didn’t come in time for the Fel Devastation hit. Agro issues are incredibly frustrating to deal with from both DPS and tank perspectives, and should not be in the game (in my opinion).

spb already does this, they just need to buff spb and make sc mroe of a st ability.

i mean this is strange as well, its supposed to be a buffer between defensives. but now demon spikes has nearly 100% uptime if you grab every talent that effects it

all tanks get oneshotted when mobs hit them in the back, this isnt a vdh only problem. with the amount of parry the spec has baseline. its actually one of the stronger specs against melee white hits

sof generates threat, you just have to be in combat with your targets before it goes off to generate threat

tg does 0 damage and need to be buffed considferable for it to do threat
