Vengeance DF

I’m not sure why they decided to cap Soul Cleave to 5 targets. I like the talents that make it powerful to the point where taking Spirit Bomb doesn’t seem mandatory for M+, at least that’s my perspective. However, Soul Cleave capping at 5 targets makes Spirit Bomb mandatory again. Not a fan.

I’m not a fan of spirit bomb as a dps talent instead of a survivability talent. Most don’t take it for frailty, they take it for dps. They should move frailty to soul cleave and make spirit bomb the defacto dps AoE spender. Especially with how they are boosting fire damage.

Personally I like soul cleave instead of bomb spam, but maybe that’s because of all the free frags we get with elysian decree now and our haste. It would be good if they make it so you bomb initially to get frailty out and then it’s better to cleave, which is only partially true atm.

Yeah the new tree gives cleave frailty so if they remove the 5 target cap, bomb would be the dps spender. Could even argue that it already is.

Does bomb still burst heal?

Depends on the amount of souls consumed. Definitely gonna be hitting it less with the pain cost upped to 65

Capped AOE has always been less fun than uncapped.

Personally, if a non-spirit bomb build isn’t viable for mythic + (at least the level of content I do, 15/16 max) then I’ll likely be looking for another tank to play. But I’d be surprised if that was the case.

Being hard-capped to 5 targets is farther reaching than just damage. Pull 6+ targets and get unlucky with which targets your Soul Cleave hits and the one that didn’t get touched turns and just kills a melee. There’s a reason why pretty much all tanks have non target capped abilities just for threat purposes. I honestly don’t understand why they would do this.

Might want to start another tank M+ changes a lot in DF You need to run higher m+ for cap item level instead of +15 now.

For real. like why cap it at 5. why not just make it deal reduced damage past x number of targets.

sigil of silence is pretty much gone since its paired with another defensive(roaring fire).
idc bout dps, i just want to able to survive, ty

What don’t you like about Spirit Bomb? It’s a true AoE instead of frontal cleave, you can use it to consume souls for the defensive properties even if no melee target is available, it’s not capped at 5 targets like Soul Cleave…it’s superior in every way imaginable except the articially raised Fury cost that shouldn’t exist in the first place. I don’t get it.

Personally, I do not like it because it competes with soul cleave for soul fragments. It makes the rotation feel clunky. I’d like it a lot better if when you chose it it turned off the soul fragment grab from soul cleave… maybe. I am no veng expert by any means… all I know is I don’t like the way it feels.

So your issue is not with Spirit Bomb itself so much as the flawed design of Spirit Bomb and Soul Cleave competing for the same resources.

I’ve suggested numerous times that this needs to be resolved.

Yes. Though without that fix, I have preferred in SL to just not choose Spirit Bomb talent which has been fine for the lower content I do. Hopefully that’s still an option going into DF.
