I’m about to roll an alt tank. I’m between a BDK and VDH. Correct me if I’m wrong of course, but I’m under the assumption that VDH’s kite a bit when their cooldowns aren’t ready. A BDK is more a stand and tank type kind of like a paladin and the other tanks.
So my question, how difficult is tanking with a VDH?
VDH, is fairly Easy…likely only easier tank is Druid.
wow, i never would’ve thought. I feel like I would have a hard time wrapping my head around knowing when to kite and when not to. I’ll have to really try one out.
Unless you are tanking +20s and above, you won’t really need to kite. If you play casually and only do +18s, you will have enough survivability and damage to do traditional tanking.

Blood has issues right now if you ever want to get into high keys.
It can’t kite really well, and its mitigation style is “heal yourself a whole lot”, which means little when things are hitting you like a truck.
VDH is flimsy when the cooldowns fall off, but you can book it when the heat’s on.
It’s easier to make BDK work when you’ve got a team who works with you to help you do the things you cant. On a few occasions i’ve had to taunt and temporarily tank/kite an unCCable mob so my DK tank could drop stacks of something.

DoS and Aegis allow us to face tank when fel devestation, meta, fiery brand, and demon spikes are down. We also have strong magic mitigation and sigil of silence is great. We do need to kite even on 18s if you’re pulling big and trinkets are on CD and so is meta. But we have great DPS and snap aggro so kiting isnt a big deal. I would recommend a jump macro at your pointer. Truthfully I kite even when I can face tank and throw some glaives so the DPS and can just stay on it and I’m not taking damage. Yes dps drops a bit but I’m doing it so I can setup for the next big pull.

Thanks for the replies. I was traveling so I couldn’t repsond. I aim to start a DK now that I’m home. Also good to know that kiting isn’t a regular thing in the rotation at lower levels. That had me scared.
