fire mage is busted. The fact that all that damage comes in literally 1-2 globals (meteor combust, fbx2 for ICasc into pyro is literally “one global” in bust, two with the meteor) is insane. react 1second late and you’re dead. Purging it isnt even viable because the damage is out already too.
That coupled with mage cc, mobility AND tankiness they can just farm to next bust easy… and they have 3 schools so interrupting isn’t sufficient. Combust needs a hard nerf in its damage, or the firestarter pvp talent needs to be removed/gutted.

mmhmm. triune ward is insane. It’s the same problem as bfa, though. It’s not that mages have the most mobility, or the highest burst damage, or good sustained, or the most cc in the game, or that they have 3 schools so you cant lock them down, or they have insane tankiness AND two functional cheat deaths… they have literally all of it.

highest mobility and good sustain are questionable, you could just say they can blink while casting CC and have combust every 32 seconds.

He PS’d late at like 40% hp because he was supposed to have support from his team, and they both got double DB’d. Obviously fire mage is top tier, but they simply didn’t react fast enough as a team to the fact that his peels were CC’d.
They are top tier players and they know they had tools to answer and just didn’t hit them fast enough. Chas could have trink-triple feared and killed the go instantly when that double DB came in, but he held trinket because he wasn’t accounting for both his DPS being DB’d and unable to peel. This is not a good example of ‘FIRE MAGES ARE RIDICULOUS’.
Obviously there is caster bias due to mage mains, but they also understand that fire is a one-trick-pony and if you don’t respond sufficiently to combustion (which, yes, is probably overtuned) you’ve made a mistake somewhere along the line.
