I am a crummy player, and I really like the vaults! I’m sharing my “tips for terribles”, to help all us Keyboard Clickers enjoy this new feature. About me, I’m old, terribad, keyboard turning, mouse-clicking, slow-responding, etc, you name it. I also only have an hour or two every few days to play. This character? That you think is an alt? NOPE. My strongest, grrr!
OK, on to the tips!
Tip one : I’m assuming you’ve gotten past the initial stuff and are now just like, meh, how am I supposed to get the 4 zillion keys, this sucks. Honestly? This part kinda sucks, like I wish they made key collection a LITTLE more trivial, like maybe you could just find them under a bush or collect them via skin/herb/etc. Less than 50% chance, but not 1% kinda thing. ANYWAY, the way to get them is rares. To farm rares, you’ll need to spend 2000 elemental overflow , from the centaur vendor, for the “divine the future” doohickey. This will give you a 2min warning on your map for a rare, giving you plenty of time to get to where they are about to spawn. Once you start using this, you’ll quickly realize everyone else is, also. The buff is good for 15 hours or so – which, if you’re reading this, is approximately 13 to 14 more hours than you’re going to spend. It is what it is. Basically, invest 2000 elemental overflow, go to things before they spawn, hang out until enough people show up, whomp rare, repeat. You won’t get a key every time, but it’s north of 50%.
Tip two: Skip war creche rares. The war creche is a sea of elites (not just the rare) and you want nothing to do with it. Pyrachniss/Warden Entrix are the ones to avoid for us terribles.
Tip three: Sometimes a “lock” icon will show up on your map. That’s a freebie chest with a very high (maybe even 100%? ) chance of giving a key. Go to the lock! These seem to despawn quickly, so go when you see it.
Tip four: While the best way to do the vault is waltzing in with 30 keys to do the whole thing, we’re…not those players. So go into it knowing you’ll do it in chunks, and don’t forget to use the circlet (the light up thingy) in all the places, which will be some re-running for us.
Tip five: Have fun!
