It might be my bias talking when I wish that Legion explored more on demons, the Legion, and demon hunter lore (instead of the last being mostly relegated to the contents of a book as opposed to in-game). What is not biased - after redoing a good chunk of Legion content on multiple characters, recently - is how weirdly integrated a dungeon Vault of the Wardens is.
It’s sorta an important location in Legion - DH imprisonment area, Illidan’s body’s location and this is the expac that introduced The Wardens as a faction - and yet it is hardly ever touched on besides some McGuffin shenanigans in Balance of Power? Did I miss something? Does it have any more to do with Legion?
What is going on with the bosses too? The first boss is the standard DH-allied-with-Legion but… when? Probably pre-imprisonment, so he must have been playing the long-game. But it’s also weird at the familiarity with which he, a Blood Elf, speaks to Drenalim Whisperwind referring to her and her order as his “sisters”.
Speaking of which… Drenalim Whisperwind! This character’s minor role but stellar voice acting left a rather positive impression on me. Is she related to our favourite, black eyed priestess? Or?
And on that note why we didn’t get more on the Wardens? There are Warden towers all over the Broken Isles, they’re a faction in Legion, have several major relevant lore characters… and they are all put aside for things like Odyn’s incessant tests, ugh.
Also, how odd is it that Maiev was so disoriented in WC3 at her location when the Wardens’ HQ is right there? Baffling.

At the very least, Drelanim sides with the Alliance at Darkshore, along with the other surviving Wardens:

Tirathon Saltheril was imprisoned along with the rest of the Illidari at the end of BC. It is presumed that after his release, he joined the Legion just as the DH in Faronaar did- with a bit of temptation. There is an Inquisitor boss right after him who I assume is the person who “corrupted” him.
I believe the Vault was created after Maiev’s fight with Illidan on the Broken isles, presumably when she left with the Sentinels for Lordaeron. It’s likely that she left behind a force of Watchers to create a base for those who remained behind on Azeroth while she charged into Outland. After being released from Illidan’s cell, while most of her other Watchers were dead, she used their aid to recapture the Illidari.
It’s possible that this is what Sira means when she screams at Maiev in the Warfront “you left everything to me” as Maiev was busy chasing Illidan all over Outland while her Watchers were establishing the Vault and the towers.
At some point, Maiev returns to Darnassus with new Watchers, but after her plan goes haywire, she flees back to her stronghold in Aszuna.
As for Drelanim, it’s difficult to say if she’s related to Tyrande as she doesn’t acknowledge Tyrande personally in the Warfront or scenario. Just like Orenthil, she’s probably a distant relative.
It is true that the Wardens needed more lore, especially in the wake of Cordana and the events in Darkshore, but I presume most of the above is true, even though speculation on my part.

Much of that is really good, even if it is speculation. Wish Blizzard would have gone into it more.
Where do you think all the myriad demons and beasties in the Vault came from? Prior to hearing your perspective, I thought they were inhabitants since WotA days (was operating under the assumption that the Vault is old af). But your speculation of the facility being relatively new is better - so perhape demons cleaned up from Ashenvale and some of Felwood after Hyjal?
At the very least, Ash’Golm was probably caught by the section of the Wardens that became the Shadow Wardens that helped the Guardians/Avengers of Hyjal against Ragnaros’ forces.
It had a cool story, but if I never have to do that light-ball-spinning-weapon fight again, I won’t miss it.
