Vault of the Incarnates review

Did 6/8 vault of the incarnates last night with the guild and after coming from an entire phase of sweating hard in classic wrath and not having raided retail since WoD, this was a very good experience. Normal mode is tuned nicely; there were challenging mechanics and strategies that needed to be utilized but nothing felt too punishing or overtuned. Council and Dathea were my two favorite fights but the boss room of Sennarth is breathtakingly creative. Grimtotem has some really good mechanics as well, sure to keep you on your toes. To top it off, retail has moved back to the classic loot system of group loot and tier tokens; actually feels like an mmo again.

I was going to just use retail for rated solo shuffle, but i’m looking forward to raiding both VoI and pre-nerf Ulduar in the coming months.

Sweating hard? The hell’s been making you sweat in Naxx? Staying awake long enough to not get blown up by a red circle on KT two hours into the run?

Preparing for the ulduar race and logging performance parses. You okay brother?

Nice private logs by the way. Whatcha hiding?

They admitted to taking 2 hours to get to KT when most finish the raid in 1.5 hours, so use your imagination lol

You say this but don’t post on your retail character

This is my main. Im playing a fresh 70 preservation evoker on retail.

Spider boss was a rough fight when you don’t meet dps check mark.

Our group had some pretty solid dps, main issue we ran into was sliding off the ice on the top platform and awkward ice blast timings right before or after a webspray pull. Really awesome boss fight.

I absolutely hate the new loot system.

I am back to giving away all my gear. Not a fun experience for me.

Now if I somehow don’t make the cut for the mythic team… I have been giving away my gear for two weeks and am at a disadvantage for finding a different guild.

Absolutely terrible experience. I don’t understand why people find it fun to be able to funnel gear to one person in a raid.

This was the problem with personal loot. Mmos feel more engaging when not everyone is getting a participation trophy and instead have to compete vs other players in either a performance loot council to funnel gear or a roll-off on main spec. Either way it’s such a breath of fresh air to be able to enjoy retail again. Personal loot and borrowed power systems were what turned me away.

Not everyone is feeling this “engagement”.

In any case, there were many abuses of ML in the past. The more gear you funnel to your buddy, the better his dps, and the more he deserves that next piece of gear than the guy you haven’t been giving gear to, right?

Who’s private logging? I’m just an above-average Warlock/DK player as far as Classic goes.

It’s quite effective to funnel gear onto your top dps so that mythic prog goes smoother. Theres plenty of loot to go around. You should see people lose their mind over naxx loot on classic, but it just drops next week anyway.

Completely disagree…
It is not more engaging, it is also not a participation trophy, everyone has to earn their spot and has to complete the content. Anyone getting gear delivered to them early already makes it NOT a competition, because then by that point no one can compete against them.

You make zero sense.

Fine to have a differing opinion. No reason to lash out with hatred, it’s wierd.

Yea I quit Wrath because of how garbage an expansion it is. I’m ready for DF or SoM2. Wrath raiding is only challenging if you play with your feet.

Why did you feel the need to make fun of me for taking the time to show up to my guilds raid prepared, sweating and ready to blast so that i respect everyones time and dedication to our hobby?

I don’t know how I was projecting hatred, but I am simply pointing out how your argument makes no sense.

No participation trophies were happening and this method makes less competition.

Ulduar prenerf on the ptr has only been cleared by 3 guilds so far. Over 200 attempts each on yogg 0 and algalon by many top guilds. Took a perfect beacon to p3 transition for noobs (the cn guild) to get world first deaths demise. It’s exciting stuff to get not only pre-nerf ulduar but a custom extended version that is harder than the original.

I would say necessary is a better word than exciting. Considering Classic is on life support and everything besides raid logging is dead
