does anyone know if the gear we get from this LFR can still be modified in 10.1 so we can get the transmog set? specifically the cloak/waist which aren’t items in the raid itself
You probably wont find many raids for it in 10.1. And you will probably still have issues with needing when your gear is better
I’ve heard that they are working on a way to transmog gear into the LFR set. Although, it’s unclear what gear can be used. Sounds very much like a work in progress for maybe 10.1.5 or later.
I am hopeful they have something soon, as I have killed LFR bosses 47 times and still have no pieces for my Evoker and I know there won’t be anyone in LFR after 10.1.
I suspect that this previous-tier catalyst idea will be more useful in the long-term rather than the short-term.
You probably won’t find many people running Vault in the future (barring Razageth kills for the mount skin), but once farm runs start in the next expansion, being able to take any appropriate gear from a raid and turn it into the corresponding tier piece will be useful for mog farmers.
As for right now, this will be most useful for late-expansion alts to turn Forbidden Reach gear into a tier set.
Not 100% sure about the plans to make VoI LFR transmog set easier to obtain after 10.0.7 but recently I saw a third-hand-information comment confirming so without additional information other than that.
If you’re still farming the VoI LFR set while 10.1 is around the corner here’s what I would suggest: Any alt character of the same armor (cloth, mail etc.) power level with time walking queues. Collect gear ilvl to full clear LFR for vault options. (Ask friends to pass gear while leaving in in time walking to equip at 70. Kill rares in Forbidden Reach with said alt AND anll other lvl characters to collect class gear items (mail them to alt if needed) for LFR ilvl requirement queue. Auction House for filler ilvl slots. Should be able to avoid normal, heroic, mythic and mythic+ dungeons that way). This may be the last east week for vault drop options before LFR in VoI is a longer queue time in 10.1.
Also alts and catalyst charges for item conversions! Just finished my LFR cloth set today. Due to time constraint of 10.1 dropping I leveled my warlock and mage last week to get max vault options for the remaining items.
LFR queue for VoI will still be available in 10.1 but historically the queue time is incredibly long for previous LFR raid queues after new patches one out.
Also look up the specific item you need on wowhead, then see if there is a “same model as” tab that the catalyst can convert into that appearance. That may help hone in on which alt to level. Some classes can use the catalyst to get shared appearances from LFR that way. Curveball, the Forbidden Reach items convert to the “normal” difficulty appearance.
