So 10-15 years after they were relevant, or anyone cared about them, the raids for the PvP zones like Vault of Archavon and Baradin Hold are still only open to the controlling faction.
First, that is annoying that you can’t just hop into old content whenever you want.
Second, and even more frustrating, there are weird phasing issues.
Just let us hop into these raids whenever who is that hurting? Are there people that still take pride in defending Wintergrasp on retail servers in 2025?
That would ruin the prestige of the items found in the raid.
Nothing in VoA has prestige, and even if it did that wouldn’t justify keeping 15 year old content on such an outdated limitation.

No, I understood the post I was replying to. Some people genuinely want old barriers to stay in place because “prestige” is one of those concepts gaming has ruined.
The faction lockout is less than half the battle. The loot tables on those bosses are enormous, and particularly on the 10-man mode, trying to get something specific is awful.

I agree. Just flew over while on my way to Eye of Eternity earlier and I thought oh hey who is in con… Horde, fine, figures. I’ve seen that raid once.
For some reason, some of the items are part of the Naxxramas sets.
At least it’s small and fast so you can run it on like 10 alts.
And that’s why you have characters of BOTH factions!
Trust me, I get it: it IS annoying and outdated, but if you’re constantly getting locked out on one faction (especially if you’re mount hunting with this event!), then you adapt. It is far easier to jump to your opposite faction alts than it is to cross your fingers and hope your main faction is currently controlling the area.
And FWIW: if Wintergrasp in particular changed hands, then that door leading to the instance portal will NOT be repaired until the next battle starts. While you’re in that window, you literally CAN take BOTH factions into there regardless of who controls the zone!
Just make it a point to get in quickly so the opposite faction NPCs don’t tag you. Most players are likely going to be more concerned with getting in and out quickly, but if the faction NPCs tag you, then you can bet there is always going to be that one guy that wants to ruin your day for the easy HK.
It is possible to go to the zone and the win the battle on your own, though it’s been a while since I’ve done it. The challenge is that the vehicles don’t scale up, so if anyone spots you, they can destroy the vehicle really easily, and you’ll need a lot of time to bring the walls down alone.
I think they should leave the PvP part of it alone, just make a portal from that old Dalaran directly into the raid. I think something like that used to be available if you had control of the zone but regardless they could do that for Wintergrasp and Baradin.
That way people who are alone or on a low pop server for their faction can still do the old raids. It’s not like they offering anything except transmogs and a mount chance.

I think there is a portal, if your faction is in control. They could just make it always available.
There are ways to glitch through the wall so you can run it when the other faction controls it. It’s not that hard (certainly easier than winning the entire Wintergrasp on your own). You just need to have one of the “cushion” toys, look it up on Youtube or Wowhead. They also had an alternate method of using certain sized mounts but I could never get it to work.

You can get in anytime no matter who controls it.
