Varian Wrynn vs Garrosh Hellscream? Who would win in a 1v1 fight?

And I think Garrosh is the better match up for Varian because they both don’t have magic powers and Thrall has the Elements on his side.

And no Garrosh using Old God powers like the Heart of Y’shaarj.

Is this before or after Goldrinn blesses him?

Varian would be the more skilled and agile fighter. Garrosh having the brute strength.

I feel like it would go down something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WucIoDZM2HY

Varian already beat Garrosh in the novel Wolfheart.

i think that varian defeated garrosh twice, first in wolfheart and then tides of war.

but that is because varian have infinite stamina.

Yeah, we’ve seen this match-up, several times. Varian wins because super powers.

But mah rule of Cool!!

Actually that was from the Goldrinn blessing, something like the Rastakhan boon he got from Bwonsamdi. The fact that Garrosh still put a good fight speaks volume of him as a warrior

My money is on Garrosh.

  • He almost beat Thrall twice. First fight he was winning but was interrupted by the scourge attack and the 2nd fight Thrall was losing until he used his powers (its not cheating).
  • Bested Taran Zhu.
  • In Wolfheart it was depicted Garrosh and Varian were fighting to a stalemate and Garrosh only lost simply because he was getting tired and that was Varian with the Goldrinn blessing who had no problem taking down a Magnataur.

I’ll start by stating both are incredible warriors but Varian stands a cut above Garrosh wouldn’t go down easy and it’d be ugly but Varian would come out on top Garrosh is to orc supremacist to take the threat of Varian serious. Saurfang the older would be a better match up.

This fight has been depicted twice.

In the comics, Thrall doesn’t even waste time with Garrosh. The fight barely starts before word of the Scourge arrives and Thrall instantly dumps Garrosh on his butt and tells everyone that they have better things to do now.

For the in game fight, they just go at it endlessly with Thrall using his powers with impunity.

I’m not sure where you got the idea that Garrosh almost won.

And in the Nagrand fight, Thrall gives Garrosh a pretty good run while fighting as a warrior, and then wins instantly once he uses his shamanism.

Which is actually pretty much like what happened in their first fight in the comic.

Also, I point out that Garrosh was totally outclassed by Cairne.

I would not put Garrosh in the top tier of WC’s warriors.

Top Tier: Varian, Saurfang, Broxigar, Grom, Lothar, Cairne, Doomhammer.

For my absolute best ever I’d go with Broxigar the Red or Varian Wrynn.

They fought several times and were PERFECTLY matched.

But Varian had a god living in his butt that gave him infinite stamina, so eventually he would have beaten Garrosh, but they were always interrupted by 3rd parties.

Not bad when Garrosh is a good foot and a half taller with twice the muscle mass, though.

varian has better finesse/skill, garrosh is an orc, larger and better brute strength, i think garrosh would win slightly

Varian is strong too. The match up would be more like this.

I get that you aren’t being literal in your suggestion that this is how a fight would work out, but I’m suddenly reminded of the fight between Garrosh and Taran Zhu, and Thrall kamhamehaing Deathwing with the Dragon Soul. World of Warcraft was low level DBZ there for awhile.

As you the PC watch the fight Thrall’s health bar sinks a lot faster than Garrosh’s. By the time the Scourge attacks Thrall’s health was much lowers then Garrosh’s.

Game mechanics sure. But its still a safe way to tell how close he was to losing.

Thrall could only defeat garrosh when he was naked with an axe and using every elemental magic and still Garrosh would have won if he wasn’t emotional and just executed thrall straight out.

For the sake of argument; What was stopping Thrall from stone handing Garrosh in place and zapping him from the beginning?
