Vanilla WoW option in Chromie Time

One thing I would like to see added to Chromie time is the ability to play the original vanilla quest lines. I prefer the retail game, so I don’t want the Classic experience. I want to play the original questing experience, in the current retail game.

They rebuilt Classic to work with the modern engine anyways, there’s zero reason they can’t just add the zones and quests back in as they were and make it accessible through Chromie.

Last thread on this, and I was told by people to “go To CLAssiC” if I wanted it.

But for real it should be added since it restores a large portion of what retail was.

The real loss is the huge chunks of the game’s story that are just missing.

They need to re-add the MoP cloak and WoD ring questlines too, whether you get the items or not.

Story shouldn’t be taken out of the game ever, period.

I know everyone hated the zone, but I want thousand needles back! So many memories there for me. Would love to do classic questlines

better yet include the bc questlines as well. like the one with the blood elf in thousand needles with the robot.

I agree, I wish they wouldn’t completely obliterate questlines, but have them as an option to play through.

Old Duskwood > Cata Duskwood. I don’t want to play Classic, but the questlines here slap.

one of the main reasons may be size it would probably at least double the size of wow.

You’re probably right. WoW is massive as it is, but I would hope everyone would have a large enough HD to accommodate it by now. No disrespect to anyone.

Retail + Classic players have this now anyway I think. I wouldn’t care about another 5 - 10 GB to be able to have this.

except the retail client would be hosting anywhere from 15-85gb of extra space.

I couldn’t see the data being much more than the original install + whatever the bloat would be from updated, high res assets.

which is a lot. also you have to take into account the fact that it’s hosting multiple instances of the same areas. this increases the amount of data needed to be installed.

Yeah, I’d definitely try it.

I loved the old Thousand Needles and hate what Cata did to it.

I always said that if they ever did placeable player housing I would stick a house on top of one of those spires.

Not really, I just checked how much additional space a Classic install would take up on my machine and it said 2.9GB. And that’s including whatever is taken up by the game engine changes that wouldn’t be necessary for a Chromie Time phase.

They share a lot of assets already that wouldn’t require extra space.

Another big one is the removal of the attack on Undercity proto-scenario that takes place after the Wrath Gate quests. I know for a fact that they can carve out chunks of larger maps for these things to happen in, so the changes to Eastern Kingdoms brought by Cataclysm (when the quest was removed) are not a valid excuse for removing it.

I would love to go back to pre-Cata Ashenvale and Barrens.

I’m just not a fan of Classic.

The entire original quadro of human starting zones are both independently great and mesh together beautifully. It’s kind of funny, even though those zones were some of the first they worked on way back in 1999-2001 they haven’t pulled off sets of zones quite as well that way ever since.

Can’t see it happening. They squished attributes twice and levels once. Leveling is so fast and easy in retail, you’d end up with all the quests grey before the day was over, and all the rewards would have to be redone to accomodate the squishes. Not a trivial task and, I should think, not one that the dev team would have any interest in.
