I am playing BC at this moment and I can´t believe that most of the spells back in BC look much better and have better animations than most of the retail spells.
How a present game can be degradated like that?
I am going to summarize what spells look better in retail and what look better in classic
Better in classic:
-Incinerate
-Shadow Bolt
-Arcane blast
-Arcane barrage
-Wrath (the electric green ball used to look and sound way better)
-Typhon
-Frost bolt
-Fire ball
-Pyroblast
-Soul fire
-Gun sounds
-Smite (god, It is impresive how good looks in classic, now it is so ugly and anemic)
-Almost all priest’s heals
-Starsurge
Better in retail
-Drain life
-Chaos bolt
-Arcane misiles (without the new sound)
-Arcane explosion
-Holy nova
-Lighting bolt
-StarFire
-Demon bolt
But I also think it’s partially combat. Each shadowbolt cost mana, hit for tons and casted long. Whereas new shadowbolt is a filter, and one of many at that. It’d be more fair to compare it to chaos bolt. Somewhat. Not really, but you know what I mean.
This shift away from fillers and into cooldowns was the result of them wanting “big” buttons to feel good.
Now bigly damage for 10-20 seconds, then wet noodle until the cooldowns is back up
Big cooldowns are fun, but I think that some power needs to go back into basic abilities
I dont understand why blizzard does not bring old animations through glyphs for better spell customization. I mean… the design has been made they just need to implement it.
