Just out of curiosity, I was doing some reading on gamepedia and found this article related to mounts, and wanted to know why prices are the way they are. From wow.gamepedia’s patch 1.12 page, specifically the player FAQ for the mount changes:
" 'What are the changes to the mounts and riding system?'
In a nutshell, the cost of learning to ride a mount and the cost of purchasing a mount have been swapped. Instead of paying 80g for a regular mount (undiscounted) and 20g (undiscounted) to learn riding for that mount, you will pay 20g for a regular mount and 80g to learn the riding skill. Instead of paying 1000g for an epic mount (undiscounted), you will pay 100g (undiscounted) for the epic mount and 1000g (undiscounted) for the riding skill."
In short, Riding costs and mount costs introduced in patch 1.12 are the reverse of what they are in classic, with basic riding costing 80g and blue mounts costing 20g in vanilla but riding costing 20g and mounts costing 80g in classic.
Before patch 1.12, players could only purchase the ability to ride their own factions mount, and needed exalted with another faction to purchase the ability to ride that faction’s mount (Orcs needed to buy Raptor Riding, Kodo Riding, etc from the respective race at exalted), and all mounts were bind on use.
Ultimately, I just wanna know why riding and mount costs in classic are the reverse of what they were in patch 1.12.
