Vanilla mount has always been 100g and gold grinds are core the the vanilla philosophy

Anyone who seriously thought mounts were going to stay 40g was exercising wishful thinking.

It was necessary in SoM because of the sped up timeline. SoD will be closer in length to original vanilla, discounts are not necessary.

Also you realize how easy it is to make 100g doing quests, right? Already significantly easier than even earning 50g at level 40 in SoM.

Seems like Blizzard realized phase 2 had very little content to keep people interested since it was only one new 10 man to raid-log and thought maybe they could keep people around longer if they want to play alts and have to grind mount gold for multiple characters.

In practice added gold costs will just make people less likely to bother with their alts and phase 2 will empty out faster than phase 1. :man_shrugging:

They’ll need to add more content if they want people to stay interested longer.

I really don’t care either way, but you really feel strongly enough about the importance of mounts being 100g rather than 50g to come on the forums and make a post defending it? lol

This is a response to the ocean of tears from retail players on these forums crying about the 100g cost.

Ehhh… nobody wants to join an AB PUG and find out several players on their team are too poor to have their fat-mount.

Despite the game being 20 years old, the ‘average player’ is unlikely to have >100G by the time they reach Level 40.

Oh neat, I had you name for a Warlock once.

Did you pull it from Heroes of Might and Magic 3? I think that’s where I got it from.

It’s probably where you got it from. And 3DO/NWC got it from me.

Vanilla was unfinished with half the specs existing as actual jokes lacking any itemization, the vast majority of fights were tank’n’spank, and you had to spend hours grinding to do or get anything.
Vanilla WoW should not be placed on a pedestal, and SoD isn’t Vanilla. =P

If people can get it while leveling fast on a fresh from just selling grays, there is little excuse when people spent a month at 25.

Usual at 25 on a fast levelling server is 2-8 gold.

There was a recent thread on this forum that asked how much gold people had at level 25 in SoD. Without going back and perusing the thread, my memory is the lowest was 9g - a clump in the 20-60g range and large number in the 100-500g range.

Given that, 100g should not be an issue for anyone - unlike classic era where I waited until level 43 to buy a mount. The gold from quests at 25 was 1g 50s+/=. From quests at 40 it will be significantly more.

I think there will be more gold sinks coming to soak up some of the additional gold that’s circulating,

I dont mind the cost but that’s a terrible take. This is Season of Changes what is a NoChanges andy like you even doing here lmao

Okay, be sure to tell those players that when they’re standing behind the gates in AB.

Kek I’m not logging into SoD until lvl 60 phase, if ever.

After getting griefed in WSG by my own team enough times, there’s no way I will do AB with them.

Then join a premade that only allows mounts. This is a level 40 bracket. I guess epic mounts should be for free because some sweats in pugs might get upset when they see a poverty mount?

While we’re at it, why not free infinite consumes for all in bgs?

It’s not difficult to get doing some quests. A big chunk of people already got 100g doing quests. Even more will be rewarded at level 40. If you earned that gold, you deserve to be rewarded with an advantage and the convenience.

SoD is classic+, per blizzcon “classic… plus so much more. Classic+ is additions made to classic while staying within its philosophy. Gold grinds and gold sinks, and delayed gratification are core to that philosophy.

Same point as above. Classic+ is changes that stay within vanillas philosophy.

No thanks, I’m not a Redditor.

Not sure who you’re throwing this weird tantrum at, but it’s not Jeddite

100g Isn’t even a challenge when you get a massive gold stipend capping at 40 compared to classic 2019 where you were budgeting from level 1

So you have no counter arguments and just cry “mUh TAnTrUm”. A childish way to acknowledge you lost an argument.

Oh that’s neat – the upboats in your head think you’re arguing with me.
Whereas I just made an observation about other players getting miffed that somebody queued up for AB and doesnt have a mount.

Nothing I’ve said in this thread requires a 120+ iQuotient to process, yet you struggle.

Whining about gold prices is just not my style. 100g is not an insurmountable amount.

Vanilla philosophy according to whom?

Auto-matchmaking was something they wanted to do in vanilla and they tried a rudimentary version of it that didn’t work well. We only had to wait until WotLK because they had to come up with an entirely new system.

We’ve already let go of unique buffs and faction-specific utility almost entirely in SoD.

Some specs in SoD no longer have the same kinds of resource constraints that vanilla had. IE: balance druids

FFA PvP defies any PvP norms from vanilla

What is vanilla philosophy besides “things I like vs things I don’t like?”
