Vanilla Hunter question

I know Brokentooth had a 1.0 attack speed, but there was a wolf in Duskwood that had attacks that caused shadow damage. What was his name?

It was Lupos…

Lupos’s shadow damage was removed by 1.12, though.

Snarler had +100 resistance to everything at one point as well.

I hope classic has it that way because it made hunters have a pet to raid with that wouldn’t die from raid damage as you could reach enough resistance that he was basically immune to it, though it did cause pvp issues…

So up to blizzard.

Yeah, checked it out. Looks like shadow damage was removed in 1.9 when tamed.

The bats in ZG also had 1.0 attack speed. (I far preferred them to BT, and intend to live with a 1.2 speed cat until ZG drops, personally)

By 1.12, the only unique pet traits that hadn’t been patched out (resistance, damage type, run speed, etc) was attack speed, and we still don’t have confirmation that dynamic pet speeds will be in classic. (They should, since when their nerf came with new pet abilities that could increase pet attack speed, but they weren’t in the demo)

If I remember right his resistance was removed in Vanilla. I think during the revamp that let Hunter pets passively get resistance.

Though there is also the Frostwolves in AV that innately have 2x movement speed. I used to pull Baron Geddon with one.

I don’t remember if that was still the case in 1.12.

If you’re in the mood for catching your self a PVP pet, the frost wolves are faster than epic mounts…

This my friend is a VERY handy thing to have in PVP, because it gives you UNLIMITED POWER!

It was not. It was patched out in 1.9 or 1.10, AQ era. ZG bat & AV frostwolf had their movement speed nerfed (which, to be fair, was needed. I used to use EotB and the wolf to harass alliance at their ashenvale WSG camp from the safety of the horde barrens WSG camp). That patch also fixed pets that started below level 10 permanently running slower than players.

Sonova, I forgot that got nerfed, but some reason I remembered that nerf was 2.0… or was it??

Now I gotta go look man, you really bummed me out.

Sorry, I went on hiatus from the game between 1.10 and 1.12 and the run speed had already been nerfed when I left.

This is what happens when you don’t get to play a game for 13 years… Ya tend to forget things… Well at least I do.

I really loved my frost wolf…

There were a few other things I found I had totally forgotten about entirely, or forgot that they were nerfed / changed in 1.7… Funny how memory blends things like that.

All the cool unique pet stuff was nerfed to Oblivion by 1.12 so don’t worry about it. Just tame the pets you need by type:. Solo tanking- bear, pvp-Cat… Etc.

You can just spec your pet for the raid you’re doing.

Lupos doing shadow damage and AV wolves being crazy fast will not be in classic.

Did I suggest that? I just asked for a name.

You asked what was the wolf which does shadow damage, and the answer is Lupos but he will not do it in classic. The AV wolf part was in response to others talking about their speed.

Wow. Imagine having a fast bow, Troll’s Berserking, Blood Lust, a 1.0 second attack speed pet, and a Worg Carrier (prior to being made non-combat)! You’d be the bane of casters everywhere :fearful:
