Value for your dollar?

I wonder how most players feel about the value for their dollars that they spend on WoW. The idea of buying an expansion and then paying monthly to be able to access it is just no longer reasonable in my opinion. In Canada, the monthly sub is over $21. That’s $252 dollars a year to be allowed to play the game you likely also spent $100 on. Considering the repetitive nature of WoW, I tend to play for a month or two and become extremely bored and move on to other games. Long and short is that the expansions should be FREE and included in the monthly sub. Fact is, once a new expansion comes out, if you don’t buy the expansion, there is no point paying the monthly sub is there? Want to give the game a try?… You have to fork out a big chunk of money to buy the game and a monthly sub just to try it for a month… When compared to the value for your dollar spent on say GamePass, WoW comes out looking like a complete joke. Time to allow free access to the expansions Blizz. The fact is , that due to the expansion purchase requirements, I spend LESS overall than I would on subs if the expansion was included.

I disagree. I think its actually very inexpensive. No issues with it.

I play wow a lot, so for me it’s worth it. The time I’m spending on wow means I’m not going out to bars or wherever and spending money there.

It keeps the riff-raff out. So, in that respect it’s a positive. The bottom-feeder spammers aren’t going to spend money up front.

50 cents a day is fine.

Grow up.

I feel fine about paying for WoW.

When I look at cost/time played, it’s less than a dollar a day and I don’t play every day.

Free expansions =a product not worth selling.

It’s great value for me especially since I enjoy the game. That being said if they keep up the direction of heavy and deceitful monetization practices on a game I pay a sub for I will voice my opposition and eventually leave.

I don’t much think about it because it’s so cheap.

Even with the increase in microtransactions, WoW is still one of the cheapest forms of entertainment I have available to me. So…yeah. Most of the time I feel like I’m getting the correct value for my time and money. That said, the devs irritate me every so often so I walk away for a bit.

Dont do it if you think its a bad deal

It’s very hard to beat three games for one sub in the year 2025. When I had to penny pinch my MMO subs, WoW won out for this reason alone.

I’m guessing you are oblivious to the hypocrisy in your post.

15 bucks a month for me to, at any time, explore a universe.

I spend that just for popcorn on a friday movie night.

The value is hella worth it.

I am also in Canada, and WoW is cheap entertainment. $200 for a year sub is still cheaper than a dinner date and movie with my partner. Dinner would be close to or more than $80, movie tickets are $20/each, and the concession prices are also ridiculous.

Adding the expansion every 2ish years and it’s still cheaper than 2ish weeks of socializing IRL.

I spend a significant amount of time playing WoW as it’s grown to be a big part of my socializing since Covid happened. If I divided my year time played by the cost of a year sub it’d be pennies worth for a week/month.

There really is no argument against the value of the WoW sub if you play remotely commonly.

I have been in a moment in life when a twenty dollar bill was a big deal some days. In those days, I would not lean on gaming (as in videogames) as a hobby. It is not a cheap hobby. In that context, WoW is a steal if you enjoy it and play it a lot, as I do.

I suppose that’s why the folks without so much disposable income probably by the $40 edition and then farm gold to buy the tokens. although I don’t know if tokens are actually available in Canada or not.

They are. They’re $22 or $26 each and give the same amount of gold as they would for US based players. North American region after all.

The value is there

do i want to pay less for all things? Duh

When I started playing this game, it needed to provide me with as much enjoyment every month as three Subway footlongs. Now, it only needs to provide as much as about one and a half. (One and a quarter if they’re extra meat.) I’d say that’s value.
