We’d like for the MONTHLY m+ upgrade to at least be equal in item level for PvP and raiding, since you’re so dead set on this BS. 226 for 15, 233 for 18.
Alternatives include making PvP players upgrade conquest gear with conquest and halving raid loot. Parity is important, after all.
This is dumb. Do you have any idea how much the honor upgrades cost when you start to get into the higher rating thresholds? It’s absolutely absurd and that’s a good thing. It should stay a grind instead of being locked behind a conquest cap.
Unless your fine with valor points also being capped every week which is an equally dumb idea.
That’s what they are doing. Not only is there a weekly cap that’ll take 3.5 weeks to earn enough to do an upgrade, but you can only bank enough to DO one upgrade, so it’s literally, inconceivably gated for no reason. It’s as idiotic as upgrading conq gear with conq, hence why I said if they go through with this, they should make an equal change to PvP gear. It’s stupid, but it’s fair.
“I’ll save up my valor so I can upgrade this item when it finally drops”.
No, you won’t. Cant bank enough valor to upgrade, it’s capped, so expect to hang onto it in the bag for a few weeks before you can equip it.
“This gives m+ players equal footing to raiders and PvP in their own endgame”.
No, again, even after you spend up to 72 weeks upgrading your gear, you’ll still be up to 6 item levels behind Raiders and PvP junkies. Hopefully the once a week gated AND RANDOM vault helps you out, though, and gives you the item you want out of 400 possible drops.
“Well, at least raiders can target the slot that just won’t drop from stone generals or something”.
Yes, that’s actually the way this system is being designed, to be of maximum benefit to raiders while also not requiring them to go whole hog on the content that supports it. Because screw m+ players, that’s why. Slowly collecting m+ loot then boosting an item for a slot you didn’t get is the design goal - targeted specifically for raiders.
This system is DOA in its current state. Might as well bring back titanforging, honestly. It was better in literally every way, and that’s saying something.
It does in only one aspect… it means we have to deal with just as many carry sellers because of the artificial gates to upgrades.
But yeah the inability to just buy the piece you need is incredibly frustrating. Particularly since they won’t allow you to upgrade items that dropped pre 9.0.5. I literally have a trinket I can’t replace except with itself at 184 on my VDH… and I’ll have to regrind it.
Yeah the entire valor system… is so monkey’s paw horribleness of what could have been a good system.
Justice points from completion of a dungeon commiserate with the level of key. Cap at 15000.
Valor points given for timing a dungeon, again commiserate with key. Cap at 500 for each week, with maximum cap of 500 * weeks in the season.
Both caps are symmetrical with PvP.
Add a vendor or a covenant item that adds ranks to existing gear. This “technical limitation” stuff I am NOT buying.
Upgrades cost justice points, not valor. Same levels as PvP upgrades. Up to item level 226 for KSM, and allows weapon upgrades to 233 for all 18+.
Valor points are used by “extra roll” tokens you use as a consumable on a given boss. So, during your DoS +10, you just pop the token on Hakkar or whatever and you get a piece of loot from his table. (Because what would PvE gear be without randomness). OR, it buys extra choices from the vault, maintaining randomness.
If I were king for a day, this is what I would do.
