Why does this exist still? currently you have to run more dungeons to get the score to upgrade items than you can earn valor from. Why take away the compensation for unlucky gear drops when I’m running the dungeons anyway.
I’m curious if the cap of 750 means that is the most you can have at one time. Is it possible to say, spend 400 to upgrade a piece of gear, and do another dungeon or two to get back up to the 750 cap or is 750 the most you can earn this first week of season 2?
Cap will increase. It’s a bandaid concept. There shouldn’t be a limit of gain per season when RNG is still a thing
Its the most you get this week. Next week the cap will go up. However Cap = MAX this season. you won’t gain more than what you’re allowed to get. which means at the end of the season your valor cap is 10k that is all the valor you will ever earn for the season. Save and use wisely
The cap is a weekly, if it was capped at 750 period you wouldn’t even be able to upgrade two handed weapons which cost 1000 valor each. You always can earn 750 a week and it stacks indefinitely just like in season one.
The cap is needed so the crazy people don’t kill themselves by running dungeons with no break for 5+ days straight.
I am so glad I asked that question. I would have blown my valor on low items lol
thats their problem, in all honesty. blizzard isnt our parents.
It’s so odd how inconsistent they are when it comes to this stuff. Look at Archvisits’ Codex rep, for example. Basically all top raiders are sitting in korthia/maw literally all day grinding this garbage rep through all of the hidden ways.
I like the cap it makes it so I don’t have to play the game for 20 hours a week to compete in mythic.
so you dont burn yourself out.
There is a cap on daily research you can get though it’s a huge cap that spans multiple hours a day generally to get but there is a cap none the less.
It’s to slow down how fast you can gear. Also why the drop rate is low.
The worst part of the cap is that it encourages you to sit on valor until you get a BiS item. Where if there was no cap you could spend VP on best right now items.
The cap will increase next week.
This week you can only upgrade one piece to 233 with 1k score. Upgrading one piece in the first week of the season seems reasonable to me.
Valor is really more of a system that was designed to fill in your slots later into the patch. It’s not intended to be a way to get max ilvl items in the first week.
My advice is not to use your valor points yet until you know you are upgrading an item that you will keep like a trinket or ring. If you spend it now you will not get more valor this week so be careful with your valor upgrades.
I capped at 3 mythic+ runs. now i have 10 runs. go figure.
It is for preventing you overgear heroic /mythic in first week.
also dungeons’s item level capped at 229.
Because Blizzard is worried that if you get too much gear you’ll have too much fun doing higher content and progressing your character, and they’ve taken a very strong stance against fun in Shadowlands.
Sadly the way they set up the system it is basically a trap.
New players will be punished and little things like that will really discourage people from playing. “its just a game people shouldn’t get angry”. The grind is real.
New players trying to do mythics to be harassed for underperforming and even for vets who may have a better way are harrassed because it not youtube meta. After the grind and harassment they finally look forward to upgrade their first piece of gear from many failed 0 loot runs because Normal and Heroic doesn’t get players ready for mythic to find out its their worst in slot and actually made all there progression worthless.
It’s more aligned to with why raids have lockouts and conquest is (and always has been) capped.
