I resubscribed after several years away. I know I’m a few years late on this, but I’m experiencing it for the first time. I’ve really enjoyed the story lines in Legion, except for Val’Sharah. I was totally stoked about the opportunity to play a Malfurion Stormrage centric story line, because he’s objectively badass. Unfortunately the story line disappoints, because Malfurion is completely inept the whole way through. I get that you need variety of storylines, and sometimes you need a thread where things start out looking good and go sour, but Malfurion spends a good 85% of the time doing next to nothing to move the story forward and the other 15% being a complete idiot. Disappointing.
of course that they had to make him useless,otherwise he would have solved the problem by himself, such is the price of being a demigod and a hero in a videogame.

Meh I liked it. In fact its my favorite zone. The cynical side of me even enjoyed Mal being an idiot (Sorry but I really don't like him). Would have hated the later half of the story if Tyrande's original beta dialog went live.
I enjoyed the zone. Malfurion was really only inept in the first instance when he flew off following Cenarius' death. People keep making fun of him for calling our to Tyrande… I really don't understand how people don't realize that's Xavius playing mind tricks on Tyrande, not Malfurion himself.

Malfurion was trash talking Xavius the entire time in Darkheart Thicket, then led the Champions of Azeroth into the Emerald Nightmare to defeat him.... Malfurion was a bad !@# in Val'sharah.

Felt Malfurion should've been in the expansion longer after val'sharah. Weird why Illidan didn't approach neither Tyrande or Malfurion either.
If Malfurion handled it himself there'd be nothing for the player to do. Everyone in this game is incompetent, because if they were competent they could wrap up zones on their own.

I don't think I'd call Malfurion inept when he's the only one that resisted being corrupted by an entity that successfully corrupted dragon aspects and demigods.
I never thought he was inept. He just let his emotions get the better of him, at one point. He was pretty competent in the beginning of the quest, and then in the Emerald Nightmare raid.
