April 25 marks the day that I must have all summer vacation planned for 2019.
I was banking on spending most of my vacation on the launch of Classic WoW… It does not look like you are able to give us a definitive date. I can live with that.
I am curious however if you could tell us a definitive month in summer that you plan on for the release so that myself and many others can plan accordingly?
People demanding a release date to plan vacation time should simply plan their time around Aug (or take a look at when FFXIV is releasing Stormbringers and maybe around that time.) And go from there.
We all agree that we want Blizzard to release the game when it is ready and as bug-free as possible. But how hard is it to give a date 3-4 months in advance? And I work in software development for a large company, so I know how these things work. And it is possible (and desirable) to give a date in advance.
I don’t think they want to shoot themselves in the foot. Blizzard has always been a Soon TM company because if they said July 16th, what happens if they need to push it back a little? Lots of people would be upset and complain that they wasted their PTO.
I want Blizzard to drop it like it’s hot, don’t say a word until you release it randomly. Tourists and Hardcore players will freak but it’s ok, we don’t need people to zerg servers for launch. With vacations planned and spaz devotion.
Vacations last a short while. The first week are two is going to be hectic. Then we’ll get back to a regular “prime time” with servers.
That’s why it might be beneficial to spread your time out. While every else is getting blocked fighting for mobs, you can do half week one and do that, but do half week two and have less competition.
But I can imagine some father at his son’s soccer practice and he gets a message that Classic launched and he leaves the kid there in your scenario.
Just take it in late summer, after launch. You don’t wanna take time off for launch anyway trust me, it’s gonna suck just like every other launch lol. Overcrowded zones and server instability. You’re better off taking a vacation a week or two after launch.
I had a thought. If they released randomly without notice, as word spread and people were getting on as others moved out of starting zones, some had to wait till school or work were over, it may eliminate any need for sharding!
I know, that sounds dumb, but I had to post something that wasn’t a desperate plea for release.
I also remember that they weren’t “widely accepted”, and were treated with scorn and derision.
Oh. Right. That was always. No-one has ever been happy with Soon or “When its ready” and these posts are exactly the same as what happened throughout WoW’s history.
