My conclusion on this evidence is that Uther is WoW’s equivalent of Obi-wan Kenobi.

The Urn was magical in nature and The Scourge sought it for evil purposes. Uther volunteered to stay behind and guard it in Andorhal as The Scourge had basically won by that point.
So, Uther died trying to keep a weapon out of the enemies hands.

They both were incompetent brainwashed by their culture/religion to never defy it and blindly follow its teachings resulting is 0 critical thinking abilities which subsequently resulting in being unable to understand their pupil’s nature and feelings and therefore unable to actually stop them from falling to the dark side.
