People are nuts if they think that Uther has wronged Arthas in some way. Maybe dumping Arthas in the Maw disrupted things but that is on Devos, not Uther.
Arthas became evil and did lots of bad things. He did not and does not deserve any kind of redemption. Leave him to rot in the Maw. Seeing Arthas get thrown into the Maw felt like…justice.
True. I mean Uther is like a noob regarding the laws of the SL, Devos was the one who gave Uther his wings, went to capture Arthas, and let Uther throw Arthas into the Maw. Uther was along for the ride (for justice, mind you) while Devos was the one trying to mess with the order
And just think, most likely his fall would not have happened if Uther and Jaina had listened to Arthas and saw he was being driven mad by Mal’Ganis and helped him instead of abandoning him when he needed them the most.
As someone who plays forsaken, and likes playing the bad guy in WOW and was amped when they let that demon vaporize Tirion while he was begging for the light to save him - I agree, Arthas got what he truly deserved he ran his father through FFS people?!
People love redemption, but there are lines you can cross from which return is not an option Arthas rocketed over that line. Does my in game character also deserve the maw? Oh definitely, but there is no redemption for Arthas, none.
I think Arthas is unredeemable and would have gone to the Maw anyways. But Uther was doing the same thing Arthas did. He took matters into his own hands in pursuit of his idea of “Justice” while being goaded on by Devos. Exactly how Arthas was corrupted.
So there’s parallels there. Uther disregarded the system and acted out of vengeance, which tends to not lead to good paths. It goes against everything he used to be.
Uther and Arthas are to blame. Mal’Ganis and Devos instigated it, but that doesn’t excuse their own freely chosen actions to still do the things.
Devos is just dragging Uther along so that Uther can remember himself. The plan is to destroy the arbiter which is trying to control all life by removing outlier souls from shadowlands. Devos will sacrifice herself to so that Uther can make a choice for all mortal souls. Uther will make the choice to destroy the arbiter, giving freedom for all souls and eventually bring about the end of shadowlands because of emotional attachments of Devos’ sister.
During this time Anduin is just aimlessly wandering around and at the end, goes into a temporal rift, leading him to the time after all the chaos. Anduin will need go to the forge to bring back Sylvanas and recover shadowlands after its destruction.
Being arrogant isn’t ground to send anyone to the Maw. He was arrogant, and that arrogance was exploited by evil creatures to corrupt him and make him into a weapon.
He should be judged for his arrogance, not for being corrupted.
Both Devo and Uther made a decision they were unfit for.
Arthas deserved judgement, not vengeance. Even Uther realized this unholy mistake. Which explains that, Arthas deserved his shot at redemption. To be judged by someone not playing God, but God himself.
Some people on the forums just like claiming that characters who do evil things “did nothing wrong” and that all of their actions are the fault of other characters.
That said, if we consider that the moment he touched Frostmourne he was corrupted then Arthas doesn’t really deserve the Maw based on what we know of how the Shadowlands work.
Revendreth seems the likely place he would have ended up based on his actions from before being cursed.
Uther did a bad in the Shadowlands. He’s being manipulated by Devos, but he’s still doing it of his own volition. Here’s hoping we can bring him back to the Light.
