Hi, i was checking the best parses on Warcraft logs and i was surprised how many assasination rogues use Crimson Tempest on single target bosses (and they use it on the fight, not just having the talent for other bosses) , anyone can explain to me why it can be competitive in single target versus Poison Bomb ?
I tried to sim it but it’s a dps loss for me, but i’m kinda new to the spec and maybe theres an azerite / stat / corruption to be used with the talent.

Tons of haste via expedient corruption and exsanguinate. Makes it so your dots tick really hard and fast while also letting you generate tons of combo points to keep the engine running and keep all your dots rolling. Crimson Tempest eventually outpaces Poison Bomb single target with that setup, and naturally if there are any extra cleave targets you can put dots on it utterly destroys it.

With enough Expedients and haste stacking Crimson Tempest will begin to overtake Poison Bomb in ST DPS, it usually starts to at 5-6 Expedients with Haste on most of you’re gear and a decent ilvl. With my current setup 1 Crimson Tempest does more damage than 1 Envenom press by a decent chunk.
It’s quite nice being able to take Crimson Tempest as it’s also the best talent for AoE and Cleave, it comes in handy on many bosses when in the past Assassination had to choose between losing ST DPS for a gain in AoE, now we don’t have to make that choice and get the best of both.
I was sure i had enough haste to get decent parses with my 52%, but now that i saw how many haste you got, i understand i still have work to do before i can see all the benefit.
You can use a Top Gear sim on Raidbots and just select CT and Poison Bomb on a patchwerk fight. I would switch if it’s more than 200+ DPS.
I sim at almost the same DPS with or without it (now a 63% haste buffed) but i’ve been using crimson tempest for the last week and the rotation feel boring without it.
And it’s so much more fun in m+ even if i don’t have the right azerites.
