I have a 101 CAD credit in bnet balance that I received when going from Heroic to Collectors edition for shadowlands. I figured hey I'll just sub for 6 months and get this ugly mog for free, only to find out you can't use your bnet balance for this purchase?
I purchased the dreadwake with this exact same method. Any reason as to why I can’t use my bnet balance to purchase what I want? Technically it’s a refund of money I spent…I can purchase anything else including the new COD but for whatever reason buying a 6 month sub + transmog isnt an option.
Oh yeah forgot to mention I can buy the transmog alone for 25 bucks using my bnet balance…
The only thing I can think of is there’s a recurring 6 month option and a one time 6 month option, make sure you have the one time option selected. At least, it was that way when I did the Dreadwake 6 month deal with gold/bnet balance. Not sure if anything’s changed since then.
Edit - Seems we figured this out that it has to be a recurring sub and not a one time for the mog to be included.
Aye battle.net balance can’t be used for subs because it’s a reoccurring payment and that type of currency isn’t really reliable for that. It’s just the rule they have. You can use BnB for buying set amounts of game time though or items with one time prices, like the mounts or outfit separately.
But that won’t get you the free mog. The six month has to be a renewing subscription.
I think the Dreadwake was done differently cause I’m looking at the one time 6 month page and it says access to WoW and Classic but the recurring sub page includes the mog. Which just seems lame on their part to not let gold subbers have it if that’s the case.
If you read the blue on it they did say at the bottom that the item has until oct 30 to show up for those of us with a revolving 6 month sub. I forced to to update immediately by updating my pay method (My CC was expired and I needed to update it anyways ) When I was done updating the CC the item appeared in my wardrobe

It has to be a recurring . So just a basic 6 months won’t work .
My issue to be honest is not everyone has the money to afford a 6 month subscription recurring or not or they may not have the time to make enough gold to pay for 6 months and they get denied stuff like this .
I am fine with stuff being in the store but first offer it in game as a limited time reward for say a holiday event or as an expansion feature reward then after the limited time is over then put it in the shop .
Just don’t do it like the Big Boi and wait until the end to say it is going away . Let people know at the beginning .
the dreadwake was 60 days game time not a sub i think because i did the same thing i used in game gold to get it
a sub is reoccurring so it cant be bought with game gold
I mean I don’t see the issue with buying a recurring 6 month sub with bnet balance worst comes to worst and theres not enough bnet balance at the renewal time you get locked out of game just like you would normally if your CC got denied…I just don’t like being limited on what I can and can’t buy on the shop considering I basically bought shadowlands twice lol.
Its because Daddy Blizz wants the money when you forget to cancel your sub before it runs out. Same reason all the “free trials” you sign up for require a card…tons of people forget to cancel in time and the company gets to bank that extra cash. I had a friend who did a 12 month recurring and ended up paying for 14 months they didn’t play.
