Using a VPN

If you use a VPN for your own network security could Blizz ban you?

I use a VPN and i haven’t ever been suspended, or banned.

My guess is that Blizzard knows the difference between account sharing and someone using a VPN. :100:

Yes

Blizzard reserves the right to terminate this Agreement at any time for any reason, or for no reason, with or without notice to you.

Will they if they know for a fact no other rules have been broken? :man_shrugging: To my knowledge using a VPN isn’t against the EULA

Edit:

Yes and no. Connecting through a VPN or tunneling service is not a supported play style. While doing so is possible, it’s not something we recommend.
In order to protect our players from compromises we do look at where you are logging in from. If we detect odd log in attempts, we will lock accounts to protect the account from hacking. You may encounter this if you suddenly start using a VPN.
Normally when we lock and account in this manner, we’ll send you an email with a link that will allow you to open the account back up on your own. I recommend making sure you can receive emails from Blizzard at your registered account should you try using a VPN service.

I seriously doubt those people that are reporting a VPN are ONLY doing that.

Good question. I found this from Anvar Kuchkartaev on Quora:

“No. When you are using VPN, even most secure ones with highest security, no DNS Leak, your device still connected to some physical network, either 4G, WiFi, or cable connection. Your MAC address, and other details such as DHCP client identifiers, hostname, samba netbios name (if windows) is visible to router. It means if ISP has access to your router then they can understand from which device connections coming. And when you login to remote Web site, your browser in the device provides enough information about model, OS, or other required parameters to the site. It means both ISP and remote sites can identify your device.”

So your VPN may spoof your location, however there seem to be network identifiers that will allow Blizzard to differentiate people who are using a vpn from people who are sharing their account.
