Useful Mage Tower BM Macros

Hey, what macros have you found useful for the BM Mage Tower Challenge? I use these right now and are really helpful.

MAGE TOWER SCARE BEAST
#showtooltip
/tar Jormog
/cast Scare Beast
/targetlasttarget

MAGE TOWER INTIMIDATION
#showtooltip Intimidation
/tar Tugar
/petattack
/cast [target=pettarget,noexists] Dash
/petattack
/cast Intimidation

MAGE TOWER COUNTER SHOT
#showtooltip Counter Shot
/tar Tugar
/cast Counter Shot

Can anyone improve on the scare beast macro? I don’t want to target the mob, I just want to cast at the mob without targeting him. Is this possible?

Scarebeast has a few seconds cast time so you have to have him as a target during your cast. But then the macro immediately targets your previous target so its easy to use. I’ll be facing away from the worm shooting at Turga and then hit the macro and it casts on worm and then immediately im shooting Turga again.

Yeah, okay. Is there anyway to /cast [@mobsname]???

No and I dont understand what it is exactly you are looking for?

I’ll describe the macro again, Im not sure how much more ease of use you want, other than buttons pressing thermselves this macro does everything for you. You are shooting Turga, you hit the macro once, theres a 2 second cast time and then you are shooting Turga again, all with that one button press, you never had to target anything else and or target back again, you just press button, it casts and you dont even notice you left Turga as the target except that you stopped shooting for 2 seconds while casting scare beast.

Like how exactly is it different if it was capable of “Casting at mobname”, how would that be any easier than the macro I described? Im just very confused. Are you trying to circumvent the 2 second cast time? Whats the goal here?

Just set Jormog as your focus target by right clicking it’s portrait and choosing Set Focus or just typing /focus while it’s targeted. This will put a target frame on your screen, so you can see when it’s casting.

Then use the following macro to cast Scare Beast without targeting him.

#showtooltip
/cast [@focus]Scare Beast

/cast [@focus] scare beast

then just right click Jormog’s frame and “set focus”

Kill Tauren, Kill Worm done.

/cast [@boss1] counter shot

/cast [@boss2] scare beast

Those two made it very easy for me

I found it easiest to have a mouseover scare beast macro and keep Torug on focus so I could always kick his cast while targeting the other things you need to kill or target throughout the fight. For those that want to try that you’d need a focus counter shot macro as well. Below are the macros I used.

/cast [target=mouseover] scare beast
/cast [target=focus] counter shot

Mouseover macro for scare beast is the best option. U dont need to target him at all just mouseover him. /cast [@mouseover] scare beast

This worked fine for me. Not sure what you are trying to do. Isn’t scare beast a short channel anyways, so it’s not like you could be unloading on something else in the mean time.

The only thing i can think of is if you are trying to cc Tulgar and scare beast at roughly the same time …you can use focus macros for Tulgar for those since they are instant cast - save for gcd.

The one thing I would warn w/ focus/tar macros is if Tulgar dies and you have to kill the worm. As BM they went down almost at the same time, but as a lock, I failed a kill attempt because I kept hitting my interrupt macro against a dead Tulgar instead of the Jormag which is what I had targeted but not focused.

All and all BM was easy, but it took FOREVER. My kill was 12 minutes in all SL gear, but BFA consumables.

They could comfortably drop both of their hps by 10-15% and it wouldn’t really change the challenge. Unless the challenge is supposed to be - execute flawlessly for 15 minutes.
