It’s been a long time and I am not sure if I should get a profession to create engineering, alchemy, or cooking consumables. Can you use anything like bombs, food, or potions in Arena or Battlegrounds?
The only “food” you can use in arena is mage food, or the panda racial food.
All water acceptable though in arena
nothing useful in engineering can be used in arena
I think alchemy has a heal potion they can use.
BGs is basically anything goes just about unless its rated

In any rated pvp, nothing from professions work except for crafted gear/extra gem slots I guess?
In unrated content, you can use virtually any consumables you want.
In rated content, almost every consumable is unusable except for food used to get the Pandaren food bonus, mage table food, or water from a vendor.
Go engineering and never look back. Don’t live with the doubts that so many have.
Super expensive if you want all the quality-of-life stuff, tho.
