Macros have even less of an argument for being cheating than addons do that it’s literally a 1st party feature provided by Blizzard directly in game.
Actually I remembered the laser beam one from a Hirumaredx video lol.
What’s really funny is that these types of mechanics (where Blizzard stopped the addon functionality) are still in the game. People just do them without addons, now.
A good example was Mythic Jailer’s “build the chains” mechanic, which was sort of similar to Archimonde. (But far more punishing.)
Blizzard shut off friendly nameplates in raids because of a weakaura people used to do Mythic Star Augur in Nighthold. They’re still turned off, to this day. Funny thing? That same mechanic was on Anduin in Sepulcher. And not just on Mythic, that’s Anduin’s Heroic mechanic. People did it just fine.
The importance of addons has always been overstated.
(Also, people keep getting better at the game. That doesn’t get brought up enough.)
There are two types of addons:
Cheating kind like some weak auras
And the kind we need because blizzard is too lazy to build it into the game.
Blame blizzard not us.
Okay. So he said exactly all the same things I did. This isn’t going to be the sweeping change that many of the community seem to think it is. The vast majority of mechanics are going to be handled by DBM in exactly the same way. It’s only a few very specific mechanics that are being affected.
It’s not subject to controversy. You just lack any intellectual fortitude. Your entire post makes no sense and you should feel bad.
And when the playerbase complains about unfinished content or lack off.
I kind of agree. I never understood why they try to push WoW as some sort of competitive e-Sport while at the same time allow infinite addons. Doesn’t that just make it a unbalanced playing field right from the get go?
It’s one thing if they don’t acknowledge it at all, but I think there’s a lot of evidence that they balance the game around having 3rd party addons. If that’s the case, shouldn’t they bake a lot of stuff into the base game? Instead of literally relying on 3rd parties for things like DPS meters.
It really feels like Bethesda and Elder Scrolls at this point, taking advantage of players providing quality of life addons for free, because you don’t want to spend the effort to put it into the game yourself.
That might be because they don’t allow infinite addons. The only addons which are allowed are the ones that work with Blizzard’s API, which they may change at any time to disable functionality that they don’t like. Something they’ve done several times and are doing again in 10.1.
Then they should disable all addons period or have a vetted list of approved addons only, or make the game so that it provides you with the same info a DPS meter or Omnibar gives you. Tweaking their API once in a while doesn’t change the fact you can install as many addon as you like. In a supposed competitive game.
Wish granted.
incorrect. stopped reading here
Alright, lets see what you’ve cleared with proof of no add ons… If you want to talk about skill
I cleared naxx 25 with no addons while 99parsing. I think that speaks for itself.
No it’s not.
Sure Jan,
Also pretty much every one of naxx 25’s major oh nos can be counted down from 10 on a mechanic mark easily… Also acting like Nax 25 is some kind of challenge mode content even when it was new it was incredibly dumbed down
Ok Karen
The number of addons doesn’t really matter as much as you might think. As someone who has had to mentor players who have gotten a bit too excited by addons before, it’s very easy to have too much of a good thing here. The point of addons is to streamline the flow of information. If you have 5 different alarm sounds for every mechanic, you’re not going to accomplish anything other than disorienting yourself. People aren’t going to run multiple addons that tell them the same information.
Everyone uses addons. If you don’t you are wiping your group/raid and YOU are making the game less fun for everyone else. It’s 2023 and being bad at wow is ill mannered.
So… I’m detecting that someone asked you to install DBM so that you could raid with them, couldn’t find it, and are now screaming about them being cheating?
Your Guild is called “logout”.
You have 1905 achievement points… ROFL…
Your opinion means nothing.
