Anybody use one of those USB to RJ45 network adapters?
um… it shares bandwidth with all the usb devices that is currently connected to the pc
if you’re on a pc i would get a network card, but for laptops you dont have much of a choice
Mostly what was said here though you can have independent USBs, its a feature of your motherboard though. If its independent its a direct and dedicated bus just for that particular usb port. Also if we are talking 3.0 that’s 5 Gigs of bandwidth, so I wouldn’t worry to much about network bandwidth (if its general use computer).
A network card is still better though.
Probably won’t make that much difference on most modern machines, but maybe worth noting that USB carries notable CPU overhead that will basically be constant with how often networking is used these days.
