Greetings,
I’m curious about an issue redeeming WoW TCG Loot Cards from Korean released sets.
It’s a well known fact that US and EU redemption allows for all loot cards from any language in the two regions - cards printed in Italy or Germany, for example, can be redeemed on US servers with no issue. I assume this is due to the restrictions on languages being very limiting otherwise, and given the fact that players trade these cards among themselves widely (or at least used to when the game was out) and as such US players ending up with EU cards was not at all uncommon.
The redemption seems fine because US and EU share a regional server database and thus there doesn’t seem to be much limitation behind the scenes in allowing the codes to be “universal” as it were.
We’ve noticed lately, however, that Korean-language cards have restrictions in place. Both Korea and China had WoW TCG sets released, and we can understand Chinese codes having limitations; after all, their servers exist on an entirely different regional cluster, and their rules and regulations and even the game itself operate on an entirely different wavelength than the rest of the world.
But what about Korean servers? Why are they separate from the main regional network of US and EU, when it comes to loot redemption? If the servers exist in the same regional cluster (which, as far as I’m aware, they do) then why are they isolated from the code redemption process as well?
The reason I ask is for two reasons:
First, I have Korean friends that are a little disappointed that certain codes will never make it to them. The WOW TCG only existed for so long in Korean release; there are some loot cards that never made it in to the Korean card list as a result, and thus there are some loot redemptions that they have been unable to acquire as a result since. By limiting them from the US/EU pool, I’m not able to trade or sell any of those cards to them, which is a shame… if the database was unrestricted for them and they were welcomed in to our card sharing, it would actually be possible to get some of these cards to them!
Second, we have had Korean cards come in to the mix with our US/EU loots, and it can be very confusing to have these cards not redeem properly for anything but Korean servers on the loot redemption website. Having all other world languages work properly sans Korean has caused confusion and disappointment for collectors of the cards. I’ve even had loot codes come in to mix with my own from personal experience from other sources, such as Blizzcon “give aways” and what have you, and trying to redeem them has resulted in unfamiliar error messages on the loot redemption website; it was only after trial and error of trying to figure out what was going on with them that I discovered they were not redeeming properly due to the fact they originated from Korean code databases (apparently).
I know its been a while, and I know you guys probably hate loot and the redemption system and all that, but I would really strongly suggest taking the small blip of effort in “fixing” the Korean redemption system to open the door for it to be added to the US/EU redemption tables. It would assist Korean players, as few as they may be, in to feeling welcomed with the rest of the world in regards to these codes as they have been blocked off from fully realizing their collections for over a decade now.
Additionally, while you’re considering anything relating to that, I should mention that the Korean server Hyjal is completely 100% broken when it comes to loot redemption in itself anyway. Any attempts to redeem codes at Landro Longshot once you’ve received your code from the redemption website results in him refusing to accept the code!
Either way, thanks for reading and sorry if this is the wrong forum for this. It has to do with redeeming loot which by nature deals with the website redemption process, so I thought maybe it was appropriate.
