Hold up. Let me explain.
Mythic Raid Mounts in Legacy Content:
Currently how Mythic (and previous 25HC) last boss mounts work, is they are guaranteed during their expansions duration, and after this, will be turned in a 1% drop.
However, because they are not push-personal loot like Charhound, GMOD, Gloomcharger, etc, they can only drop 1 mount per raid.
This however creates a punishment. The punishment being, the more people you invite, the less chance you have of getting the mount. This means that in actuality, if you are in a full 20 man group, you only have a 0.05% chance of looting it, because if the mount drops, it’s a 1/20 chance for you to even loot it.
"Just solo the Raid then!"
Now this of course does not matter for many raids, because a lot are soloable. But not everyone can solo Antorus yet, and nobody can solo Dazar’alor and Ny’alotha. In Dragonflight, this same issue will occur with Sanctum and Sepulcher mythic mounts.
For mount farmers, it creates kind of a bad environment where people will encourage others not to make full group, to solo raids if they can, and to never invite more people than necessary to kill the boss. It’s unfortunate, because I believe group play should be promoted and encouraged.
The Solution:
What I’d like is a change to make these farms more bearable and to encourage group play. Increasing the drop chance is not necessary as 1% is decent as long as it’s not divided. Having the mount drop for everybody in the raid? Would defo encourage full groups and celebration screenshots, but that’s probably overkill. Making these mounts Push-Personal like GMOD and others? Maybe…? That’s the best solution I can come up with, anyways.
Oh and for comparison:
- Shacked Ur’zul and others: 0.05% in 20 man Raid
- Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent and other MoP world boss mounts: 0.04%
- X45 Heartbreaker: 0.03% (pre-change)
So it makes these mythic mounts about as rare as a MoP world boss mount if you do them in 20 man groups… Yikes.
