If that’s what ends up happening they can always change it.
But our alliance population wasn’t empty until free transfers and that’s a fact.
At this point, no, the damage has been done and it would be unfair to not allow others to transfer off now that the server is in such a state. The transfers should have never been opened.
I feel like you’re the kind of person that doesn’t have a group of friends/guild that you play with, considering you see swapping servers as such a inconsequential thing. I play where my guild plays, I have no desire to play on some random server with some random guild. I’ve played with these people for years and would rather not play the game than not play with them.

Alliance transferring off their respective server due to imbalance made it worse by leaving, words I could use to describe these type of player’s would get me forum banned for a couple days.
Player’s that roll Horde aren’t helping with faction balance either, I knew Horde would be the favored faction so I rolled Alliance. I tried to get my friend’s to roll Alliance but they were set on playing Horde cause it’s the better “faction.” So in the end I still went Ally to become part of the solution and not add to the problem. I wish player’s used the same logic and did the same, oh well.
Exacerbating a problem. We’ll see how it ends up, I do hope the best for your server I’m just skeptical of the population.
Considering HS goes high at the same time Skeram does I would be more skeptical of the Alliance population on Skeram going forward.
We’ll see, I’m basing my opinion on who I believe will stick with classic, and people who transfer away because they are outnumbered just don’t seem that dedicated to the classic experience IMO

It may not have a queue right now, but when they do remove the layers with phase two, the queues are going to return. Both because the layers are gone and because players that may have taken a break will be back.
Free transfers only work a little. They were given to cut login queues, not balance faction population. Players are on the same realm as their friends and unless they all transfer together they are not going to use it. The realms given as the destination are new or low-population realms. If you are looking for wPvP or an active AH, you want the larger population realm, not the low one.
Blizzard didn’t cause the server balance issue. Players did. Blizzard will not dictate what faction you chose. They don’t dictate what realm you make your character on. They do suggest creating on low-population realms to try and help improve the realm’s population, and to help players not encounter a queue when logging in.
If players know which side has the higher population that is the faction they are more likely to choose, especially on a PvP realm. As well, the AH is going to be in better shape on the faction with the higher population.
Unless Blizzard forces players to create their characters as a certain faction and on specific realms, this is not going to improve. Blizzard is not going to force the choice on players. The backlash would be epic. If/when Blizzard implements paid realm transfers it will get worse.
“Merges” cause other problems. A straight merge would mean players who had their character name since the reserve was possible and kept their name after transferring might have to change them. As well, players don’t actually know the true faction balance, the number of characters on the realm, how many players are taking a break either from that realm or Classic, how many players are going to try and access the realm once Phase two is implemented, or what impact removing layering is going to have on the queue times.
“Connected” realms mean it’s like “retail”. It also won’t fix the faction balance. Blizzard connected realms with similar faction balances in retail. They didn’t try to even the faction balance.

How about population caps being based on faction and keeping the free transfers? Wouldn’t that help both the newer and older servers with both issues they face?

Sounds like you don’t care about the long term health of Classic. Any Classic server with horribly balanced factions is destined to die.

The only thing that will kill WoW Classic is the stubbornness of its own playerbase.
Those who originally chose to play on a faction-dominated PvP server and then those who refuse to either transfer or reroll to help balance it out.
Everyone said #nochanges.

Except horde isn’t the better faction tho. Gnome racials are 100% the best for min-maxing caster.
Human racials are 100% the best for a warrior or priest.

I feel like you dont know me at all and making personal judgements like that in a kind of passive aggressive way to diminish my statements is a poor testament to your character, not mine. I started on one server with a large group. Half went back to retail a week after launch because this wasnt for them. They didnt bash it, they just left. No harm, no foul. That server, which I am not going to name, had a huge queue every single night and the layer I kept getting on was filled mostly with people who spent their time trolling others. I decided to try the new rp pvp realm as the discord and realm chat were, in general, far friendlier. Guess what? I was right. I now have a very enjoyable time playing with a friendly and helpful guild and a community that actually works together in the wild. Had I stuck with the original server, I would have left Classic by now. Why would I say anything bad about people who take a transfer to find a better place to play? Just because I started fresh does not mean they should. If you dont understand that, and for some reason feel like they owe you anything at all, then that is on you, not them. Until you pay for their account, try to not tell them how to play.

Wish they would display the ratio on the server screen. Blizzard needs to start doing free server transfers that are faction specific to fix the imbalance
For PvE perhaps, not PvP.
PvE for Alliance, PvP for Horde.
PvP servers most players will play Horde cause the racials are better in that regard.
