Ur fave youtube hardware channels

what’s ur faves?

i avoid pretty much all but a select few because they fall into two primary categories

  1. click bait headline with results that may be skewed for such headlines
  2. amateur testing to justify a purchase

hardware canucks & matt lee are pretty good for cases
for tech I’ll watch Kit Guru, Hardware Busters & Hardware Unboxed (really that’s just techspot) but all are written review driven with proper testing so that’s primarily where I stick to.

Gamers Nexus.

yeah, some people might not like Steve’s style, but it’s very no nonsense (which I like).

i hate to down the guy but have to agree with u. he is actually the reason i made the thread 'cause im tryna find better alternatives. i’m not sure what about him annoys me the most, his voice, his face, his hair, his personality, all the above, i just know that when I watch his vids I feel like i’m almost forcing myself to watch them. he just annoys tf out of me.

try Hardware Unboxed, they cover similar ground but that Steve gets to the point quicker (he’s not necessarily making 20 minute videos to maximize youtube revenue) and unlike GN will dive into the reasons he is seeing the results he is seeing. He also checks his work with other reviewers to make sure he’s in the same ballpark as them.

you can tell he doesn’t play wow tho 'cause in his ’ Top 5 Best CPUs 2024: Best Value, Best Gaming’ video, he states upfront that the 5800x3d & 7800x3d didn’t make the list and that he knows he’ll get some dislikes for it lol

yea but his gaming test suite is 45 games at times so its more a broad look than a niche, you can read his article on techspot but he does make the case you are better off with the AM5 platform so you can upgrade the CPU as opposed to AM4 with the 5700/5800X3D and the 9800X3D with the same price as the 7800X3D (“out of stock and priced with a premium”) makes more sense.

how not smart would it be to splurge on a 9800x3d when they’re in stock and then ebay my 7800 x3d to recoup some of the costs?

depends on your GPU & monitor but if you have a monitor and GPU to let the 9800X3D show its performance (and find one at MSRP) then you cane make a case for it

stick with your 7800X3D

got a few suggestions there for channels i wasn’t aware of but think i’ll like a lot thnx guys

I skim through gamernexus and hardware unbox for latest tech news or if I need some noise when I am working, Paul’s Hardware.

Realistically I only watch Mr. Matt Lee and Devyn Johnson for builds. Matt is almost like ASMR and his builds + videos are nicelyl done. Used to love Optimum for his SFFPCs but not so much on his other ventures.
