What is the best strategy for upgrading with Valorstones and Crests?

  • Doing it sooner makes it easier to move up the tires in Delves.
  • But, often times you up grade something then get one slightly better than your upgraded item from the Vault.

When do you upgrade and when do you wait?

Once you upgrade, let’s say, a chest piece using crests and next delve you get a better stats one, you won’t need to use crests to upgrade it to the same ilvl. Only valor stone.

Like, let’s say you upgrade your weapon to 619 and you spend all crests you have. It’s a Mastery/Haste weapon.
But then you get Versa/Crit weapon of 603 ilvl - to upgrade it to 619 will only cost you like 200 valor stones.

I hope it makes sense…
So it’s not the worst thing to spend some crests.

There is no reason to wait at this point. We are swimming in crests with how high the cap is now

It depends for me.

I do have a priority system. If it’s Gilded crests then I definitely just go for crafting as I know the vault will be RNG for what I get on Myth track.

If I have raid on a relatively undergeared character I will do that first.

Lastly if I’m close I’ll go for the full breakpoint for that gear level (aka full 606+ or full 619+) for the account discount.
