Maybe I’ve just missed it, but has there been anything to describe how items from “now” are upgraded once the patch goes live tomorrow? Do we keep all of the old crests converted to the new count and currency and just use those? Do old items simply no longer get upgraded?
new season new type of crest. past season items cannot be upgraded. I think the only thing to carry over are your crafted gear, which can be upgraded.

since season 1 to 2. Unless im mistaken and they let everyone keep current gear with updated upgrade track, which i highly doubt
Season 1 didn’t have upgradable gear. Season 2 does.

New Crests - there won’t be Fragments anymore, the Crests will also go directly into your Currency tab, instead of your Reagents bag… What will be staying, is Dracothyst - which is why I stocked up on a ton of it, so when the patch goes live, and the price skyrockets, I can cash in big from it…

If you can link me an article about how open world gear this season works next season and that it can’t be upgraded, I’d appreciate it. If not, then you’re just making assumptions based off of nothing.

So do new Crests work on old gear? I think OP is trying to figure out the same thing I am: if we can still get season 2 transmog sets to upgrade from LFR to Normal appearances.

New crests won’t work on old dropped gear, but they will work on Spark Gear… The only requirement is that you will need to upgrade the Spark Gear to the current Spark, before you can create an Enchanted Wyrm/Aspect’s Crest in order to recraft them into a higher item level…
There’s no definitive answer yet, but I think it’s safe to assume either:
- You won’t be able to upgrade season 2 gear anymore
- you’ll be able to upgrade season 2 with the old crests (this seems like its what’s currently on ptr) meaning you would “maybe” have to do abberrus mythic for season 2 aspect crest
So we still don’t know what will happen for season 2 transmog upgrade then. Sadface.

Why don’t you just copy a character to the PTR tonight and see if your S2 overworld gear track is the same or has changed?

Well, reading patch notes looks like it’s a moot point. There won’t be season 2 gear to earn anymore in open world. It’s changing into season 3.
here you go. this is what will happen to all gear rewards in s3. S2 stuff carrying over defeats the purpose of these updated tables.
I think s2 gear will just be turned off and display as s2. you wont even see an upgrade track on them anymore.
Interesting if true. I wonder what they will do with all of the old currencies. Think they will cash them out? I think that’s what they’ve done in the past.
The purpose is to know if it’s possible to upgrade season 2 open world gear from LFR coloration to Normal coloration. Which that article doesn’t mention.
We won’t be able to get season 2 gear anymore. But we do have season 2 gear on us or BoAs to upgrade for transmog.
While it’s a moot point moving forward for open world gear, the open world gear we have on or BoAs don’t get changed in ilevel.
There’s no mention of what can be done with it.
