So im planning to get a dual monitor setup for myself and 1440p monitor for my main screen. Currently my processor is 10400f and video card 1660 super with 16gb ram im planning to get 32 gb ram and a new ssd thats a given. My main question is, would you get a gpu upgrade or a processor upgrade and what would it be? Main game is wow always, keep in mind i dont want to replace the motherboard. Thx
If this is just for wow? Sadly you kind of HAVE to if you want see huge gains in wow. WoW sia CPU game is HIGHLY latency sensitive. Being stuck on DDR4 is a pretty big bottleneck in wow. Upgrading your video card will give you BIG BIG Gains at 1440p in other games but minor Gains in WoW.
So you are at the end of the road where you kind of have to my friend. Keep in mind this is only true when talking purely about WoW. Upgrading that GPU will be massive in other Games @1440p
thx for the response, I guess I will have to take some time to think about this then…
If WoW is literally all you play? and you want a BIG Performance jump? Thean yeah you are at a Junction point where you have to change that motherboard my friend. You are also at a $$ Junction point. AM5 is the #1 platform atm. It isnt cheap to move to. You will also need to consider upgrading the GPU while you are at it.
If I were you Id think on it for a while and save my $$ so you can afford to upgrade both. With that said… If you do this? the difference in wow will be NIGHT AND DAY
what is your motherboard? I’m guessing it won’t support an OC even on a very cheap “K” CPU it supports. What swifty said is true, get a GPU you can carry over to your next build. I would not spend any significant money on the current platform.
