I upgraded my NVMe M.2 SSD for more fluid load times and I gotta say… I was led to believe my load times would be a lot quicker compared to what I get… I’m still waiting and seeing load screens for at least like… 10-15 seconds max. I guess I shouldn’t of had my expectations so high.
If that didn’t speed up your loading times then you another issue slowing your connection to the game.
It sped them up. I guess I read on the forums that people have pretty much no loading screens kinda overhyped my expectations. It’s a few seconds of a loading screen. I was expecting almost instantaneous loading.
Then there is something eles slowing you down…
I mean its not instantaneous but the max I wait is four to five seconds if that
I got a m.2 running at 3.6gig/sec with amd ryzen 5 5700x, geforce 1050ti 4go and 16go ddr4 ram @3200mhz, my loadong screen are at about 2 to 3 second. Also run on 500mbps internet
The used to be fast then Bliz did something and they got a lil slower but they sorta fixed it and it isn’t as bad anymore. (Prob a fun thing they had to “fix”)
I just ran a timer hearthing back to SW. It came out to 4.8 seconds.
SSD will load things faster in the background but if your connection is slower even a futuristic light speed drive won’t help.
I’m hardwired into my modem and we have gigabit internet
What did you upgrade from? HDD or 2.5 SSD?
You must have some hefty addons I have an SSD but I also have 100+ addons so my login/reload time is still about 40s but it’s much shorter than it was on a HDD. If you’re talking about the screen you get after taking a portal for instance then I would imagine there’s another problem afoot as my load screens when taking a portal/leaving an instance are below 10s
And that’s about right when i am home on my Gig line its about 2ish but when i am using phone hotspot its around 4 to 6 depending on up and down bandwidth
Disable all your addons, see what your load times are then
You are on moonguard in a guild that hangs around Goldshire… your character’s feet might be too sticky and you have that extra wait while the server peels you out of one zone.
I think you’re right. I notice a huge difference when I don’t run my addons.
I personally don’t. They just sent me a guild invite and I’ve been running with them ever since. Nice people.
There are many things that happen during loading times. What you are loading from your SSD will be super fast and you can probably see your loading bar jump huge amounts, but connections to Bliz and their servers are reliant on Bliz and your internet connection and slow down the load.
Your connection speed and cpu also play a factor into it. Not to mention your motherboards controller.
Of course
Some addons cause the problem more than others like Tradeskillmaster, Elvui, and AllTheThings. It’s not that they are bad or poorly written it’s just the nature of the addons, they are large and perform a lot of tasks and a lot of information comes with them.
actually Im confused. you upgraded FROM the M.2 TO an SSD?
Why on earth would you bother?
the slower M.2 basically IS an SSD…and if you went from the faster M.2 to a normal SSD, youd literally lose performance.
I meant I upgraded the M.2 in my system a bigger capacity/faster speeds one so it’s not just a boot drive.
Exactly…thats where I got burned, lol
want to get the M.2 drive, Ive got two or three slots for it…but theyre the slower versions which are basically SATA speeds. Not going to see much improvement over what I already have, if anything.
