I’m just saying from the beginning everything i read before shadowlands came out kept saying “This portion of Torghast will be easy. Everyone will be able to go in and get their weekly soul ash and craft their legendary’s without spending all day in there. Further down the line a harder version comes out.” That sort of thing. So i think that was their intent, they just wanted to take a few weeks to look at numbers and see where they need to make changes and they did. As far as Torghast goes, this is supposed to be the tutorial. Force people to go in there by waving legendarys around, let them see if they like it or not, then when the more challenging, less mandatory iterations come in, people can make up their mind whether its worth it to partake or not.
Apparently nothing because…EVERYTHING else is currently out of reach and time gated. I ask you this. Whats wrong with having something thats currently IN reach? lol
So Torghast is an absolute joke now. The most dangerous place in Shadowlands has become less scary than Elwynn Forest …
Like i said this is the tutorial for everyone to be able to get their currency, its not the mage tower. Dont worry, a harder version is coming, made just for you.
A tutorial ?? Shouldn’t they go to Exile’s Reach for that, the new starter zone ??
Thank you for this blizz make is much better. did upper and lower today.
lvl 9 is going to be elwyn forest with hogger as last boss, watch them complain its to hard
how fitting that a hunter and demon hunter begging for faceroll content…
Hogger is actually more difficult than anything in Torghast atm lol
I feel like this is gatekeeping done so poorly lol. Who cares if the worst player in the game gets all his soul ash? What you should be worried about is when the versions come out with mounts and transmogs and stuff that those lesser beings wont be able to have them and you will!!! Thats when we gatekeep. When us amazing players are riding around in the maw with all the new stuff out of Torghast laughing at the noobs!!!

Its not about lesser beings or elite players, I hate that mind-set trust me !! I just don’t get why people would ever want to have face-roll content especially when its attached to a so called ‘legendary’ item which might as well be a grey item at this point with how easy it is to get one.

Its like playing bowling with the rails up lol
It’s the beginning of the expansion and Torghast is an infinitly scalable game mode. Starts off easy and eventually gets to the point neither one of us will be beating it without a god rng run and playing nearly perfect. And im fine with that.

I’m with you there 100%. I’m hoping for it to be release mage tower levels of difficulty at first with gear making it drop down to moderately challenging in later tiers.
If I clear it the first time I’m in there… I’m going to be disappointed.
I have to admit this change is a little disheartening. I feel as if Blizzard has put in a lot of work and effort to make this new system only to have the challenge/fun swept out from beneath it so early in the patch. I really enjoyed the difficulty of the higher layers. Most of the fun of games is the challenge. Its not as if these layers were impossible, they just took some time and patience to finish.
There were severe diminishing returns on soul ash rewards with each increasing layer, so players who were unable to do above a 6 weren’t missing out on much. I’m sure this opinion will be somewhat controversial since players have grown accustomed to receiving rewards with less effort required than has been the case in the past. I understand that it feels bad initially to not be able to get all the rewards possible, but that incentivizes less skilled/geared players to actually improve play.
Preferably, the struggling classes/specs would have been tuned more finely so that we could avoid a general nerf to the difficulty of the system. Would it seem fair to reduce the difficulty of mythic/heroic raiding just because I wasn’t able to perform well enough to receive the loot it drops on week 1? I would hope most people would agree that isn’t optimal game design. When the game starts to lack in challenging content, you really start to feel like you’re wasting your time just spinning your wheels rather than enjoying the content. There is nowhere for the higher skilled players to stretch and feel challenged. The patch is still very much in its early stages and players still haven’t gotten large amounts of gear or mastered their classes/specs. As players/gear levels improve, Torghast will only get easier and start to feel more and more like a chore. Layer 8 is just too easy for some players now.
I’m sure there will be arguments about the ever-scaling nature of the Torghast design and how the team can just implement more layers, but one could argue the team doesn’t want to do that as they’ve already lowered the skill ceiling of the system.
As a bit of a side note, I think the system should be tied to more rewards. I’m sure there will be more rewards implemented, but I really feel like they should be much sooner rather than later. I bet many people genuinely like(d) the system and would like, at the very least, (more) cosmetic rewards tied to it.
Ultimately, I really like the system. More importantly, I liked that nearly every level of player had a level of difficulty that was available for them. I’ve been seeing a great shift/change in design philosophy lately and I’m a massive fan of much of what this expansion has to offer, I just wish there was more meaningful content for those who would like to continually improve play.
Warden Arkoban still slaughters low-mobility DPSers. A lot of people can’t get past the 2nd level of their Campaign, ffs.
Yay!!!
Trying to run this as a group to help our friends with long interrupts in a 4 or 5 man group was brutal. We had to go in two man teams. It got it done, but it wasn’t as fun.
I agree that difficulty was not the issue but the time needed to complete Torghast as well as all the other Covenant callings was just heavy on time consumption. I really had no issues beating the level 5 zones at all. I died a few times on the final boss but figured out ways to overcome it.
The CC immunity just made me manage what I did during the fight better but I understand where Blizz is coming from. Overall I think with Mythics and raid content this was a good move. I still enjoyed the challenge.
That’s a player issue. Literally all you have to do is walk away from the traps and dodge his rush, both of which are telegraphed and don’t need any special mobility.

I find it to be a boring waste of time - how about some drops in there - gold greens blues or pet - maybe a chance for a mount - to waste all that time and only walk out with ash is a waste for me
He’s literally the easiest one to kill, of all that I’ve encountered, anyway.
