the download does not want to start. sitting here trying to wait patiently but its maddening.

same issue here. took almost 15min to download 30mb with 1gb speeds. yup that makes perfect sense. Ive been stuck on Initializing for about 25min. Ive quit the launcher app and restarted it, restart my pc. pretty much running out of options.

The Game directory has changed.
You might need to download a fresh copy of Battle.net and let it fix the Game directory.
You can also try the Beta of Battle.net…

Same issue… was stuck at “initializing” at first, and updating my Nvidia drivers seems to have maybe gotten me past that (or coincidence). Now it is “downloading” at a whopping 1 kb/s. I have wired gigabit connection speed testing at just shy of gigabit speed. Checked Webroot and bnet processes are all “allowed.” No idea what’s going on, but glad to see I’m not alone.

Same issue, for both Classic and WOLK classic Downloads, game was working fine just over an hour ago, left and came back and now this download crap wont start. Fix this pretty plz.

Yep yep. Same issue with both wrath and classic. Closed, reopened. Restarted. Worked fine earlier. Now not so much. I know there was a recent update a day…ish? ago on how download information was displayed. I’m assuming this update has caused unintended consequences.

Game worked great yesterday today I go to log in and it instantly goes to scan and repair, got through those hurdles and now its doing a small 65mb update and my speeds are between 500bits and 7.5kbs a second, like dial up speeds, any ideas??

The CDN is struggling. It has been stuck at ~4kbps down for me.

This happens to me as well. Today it’s stuck at initializing… please wait. It’s doing the same thing for my friend. So it’s definitely not on our ends.

Might be east coast server issues. I set up my vpn for a west coast city and it was nearly instant.

This worked for me and others:

  1. Close battle.net.
  2. CTRL ALT DELETE, open Task Manager
  3. Close all instances of battle.net and update agent.
  4. Start battle.net again
