Updated Raid Lockouts- Phase 4 feedback

  1. I really wish this had been communicated sooner.

  2. Phase 1&2 we had many variable lockouts, but only 10 people, so we built our raids around that. Phase 3 we increased the number of people to 20, and only needed to raid once per week, so we built our guilds for people that could raid that one day every week. Now we are going to have to scramble to figure out what the 2nd raid day each week is, and then find a way to fill the holes in the 2nd raid with people who are OK with only raiding once per week, or replacing those who want to be able to raid with the same group twice.

  3. I thought the lesson learned in phase 3 was to pick a system and stick with it for the duration of a seasonal server. This administrative jigsaw puzzle is the least fun part of WoW, and I hope in future seasonal servers there is one raid lockout period, and one raid size, consistently from beginning to end. Whether that’s static 10 mans, or flex 20-40, whatever, just be consistent.

I think once a week would have been fine so we could do 1 night for Ony/world bosses and 1 night for MC. It’s gonna be tough to do all of those twice a week. That’s like 4/7 days per week for raiding.

It sounds kinda overwhelming once more raids are released. Unless they want to powercreep each raid completely which would not be a popular change.

so here me out… you can still only raid 1 day a week… No one cares that you can’t do it 2 days a week or if you can and you have a month from today until MC is out if you can’t come up with something in a month that’s a you problem

So hear me out, you don’t sound like someone who has to manage a guild.

as i said you have a month to work something out how much advanced notice do you need if a month isn’t enough? Run one day as a guild and fill the other with pugs for those that can’t make it… Sounds like alot of people will be looking for pugs with 2 lockouts a week now. Wow i fixed your problem in less than 2min

With all the other versions of WoW, having two lockouts per week is going to be a strain for those of us looking to play multiple versions.

I was expecting weekly lockouts so was a bit suprised they went with twice a week.

With that said, it’s fine. Each guild can figure out how often they want to raid. Technically it provides more flexibility as it’s possible to raid more if you have the time.

He sounds like someone who doesn’t have a job and can play 18+ hours a day. I don’t understand how that’s possible in 2024!

I agree with this. I understand that people were frustrated with lack of loot in P3, but I personally like the weekly cadence, especially for 20-man raids. The administrative burden is going to be overwhelming at 60. I think weekly lockouts are plenty given all the raids: MC, Onyxia, ZG, etc.

No I don’t have a job, I have a career. I’ve run my own IT business for 15 years… A job is something you get while in high school for spending cash or when you have no real skills and can only do things anyone else could.

1 week was too long to wait with just ST in p3, but in P4 we will have Ony/world bosses & MC which means we have to raid 4 nights a week instead of 1. It would have been ok to make the jump to 2 raid nights a week but it’s gonna be tough getting everyone in there 4 nights a week.

Sun to Tues and Wed to Sat would have made much more sense. That way it gives non weekend raiders a choice of Mon/Tues and Wed/Thurs to raid and not be stuck raiding on Monday’s.

Only because they reverted the more “difficult” tuning. Instead of having it at a level most people would have to come back to work on a boss, or finish the raid, they’re forcing the difficulty to be tuned to “too easy” from day 1 for p4.

The only thing that “makes sense” is to keep the lockout weekly, as that’s how society is scheduled.

It’s honestly not that surprising how out of touch Blizzard is with their fan base and what their community wants which is evident from the history of bad decisions they make in all their games. It’s probably because they monitor “X” more than they monitor their own forums.

You obviously can’t please everyone or give everyone what they want, but I am willing to gamble anything that a high majority of players did not want 2 raid lockouts per week, especially with a lot more content available. Now they are faced with another tough decision. Swallow their pride and revert this decision based on community feedback, or let their egos once again ruin a potentially good thing.

We only wanted 2 raid lockouts in p3 because there was only 1 raid. Now we have multiple raids and the problem was solved. Instead they created a new problem of people not having enough time to do all the raids 2x per week.

Lets not forget now we have to buy 4x the consumes since we have to do MC and then Ony/World bosses 2x a week.

Everyone complained about the 1 week lockout and lack of accessing content, now they make it more accessible and more complaints. Hell yea wow community.

1 raid vs 2 raids.

“Everyone”. No, pretty sure people with jobs complained about the not-weekly lockout from day 1.

Oh save it. I run a business and coach football and I’ll find time to get these raids done. Maybe I’ll miss a raid or two a month. Oh the horror.

It’s hilarious to me how everyone says how busy they are, when the reality is the overwhelmingly majority of people have plenty of time to do things they like. This might cut in to your Netflix time. Dang.

Let’s keep it real here - people are only actually angry because they might “fall behind” in the imaginary race they have with random people they will probably never even speak to. If you have friends and fall behind then surely they will pick you up and get you where you need to be quickly.

In a shocking turn of events you don’t actually NEED to do the raids twice a week either. Now you have more options to do them with other people when your schedule doesn’t align with your normal raiding team. Isn’t that a good thing?
