I’ve been noticing how horrible Stormwind looks. It’s textures are archaic.
When I go to any of the new towns it just reminds me of how bad it looks.
I think anyone would love to see an updated stormwind with high polly structures, and better textures. Maybe even add some more life to our beloved MAIN capital.
And update the trees in elwyn forest, and goldshire; add life to it.
These two places (horde as well) are where most players like to hang out, talk, chill, and explore other forms of entertainment (moonguard)
I know it will likely never happen. But if it did? that be great.
“There’s also still a good handful of places that just don’t make sense. Like multiple intersecting corners/walls forming holes that are just covered up by invisible walls and are nonsensical if you take a second to look, which isn’t unreasonable since we have been able to fly since Cata. They literally shoved some tree leaves over one of the holes” - Vaenaru

Well Sylvie is pretty vain, I’m sure she’ll redecorate when she gets it. Some plague here, some flames there…

Gotta be green flames, of course. And laggy green puddles with smoke. Those are the best.
I can’t wait for the detailed orc boot impression textures that will be laid over the pretty HD stone streets.

It being on fire would be a nice update or a crater.

As long as it’s all updated work, I’d rather have that lol. Make it happen Zanjin!
I’m more concerned that a dwarf is asking for Stormwind upgrades. Better all be in the Dwarven District! =p

I’d love to ask that, but nothing is going on in our home town!!
I dare not even mention ironforge to blizz.
Might even get me shot.

The polygon count on the Stormwind Crater is supposed to be off the chart.

Not terribly long ago, suggesting another update to Stormwind would get you a lot of hate from people who don’t play humans (notably Gnomes, Draenei, and Blood Elves), despite the fact that no one hangs out in any other Alliance city to any notable degree. We’ll see if that’s still a thing.
Personally, yeah I’d be down for an update. Boralus looks great for what it is, but RP is frustrating there due to heavy sharding. I’ve always liked the aesthetic of Stormwind anyway, so an update to make it better would be cool. There’s also still a good handful of places that just don’t make sense. Like multiple intersecting corners/walls forming holes that are just covered up by invisible walls and are nonsensical if you take a second to look, which isn’t unreasonable since we have been able to fly since Cata. They literally shoved some tree leaves over one of the holes, but it does a poor job of hiding it.
That said, Blizz typically only updates things when it’s relevant to current content. Hence getting the memorial park thing last expansion. I suppose it’s possible that we go back to SW/Org as hubs next expansion since we’ve kind of exhausted most of the existing options for “new landmass” (South Seas / Zandalar was kind of one of the last things people were asking for right? And any Azshara-related zones are likely to show up THIS expansion).

I wouldn’t worry. The Alliance is going to lose the war almost certainly the way things are going and Stormwind will get its long-overdue revamp. Might be a result of it getting assaulted or something.
For all the focus the game developers want to give on Stormwind as a hub, they really should take advantage of a retexture/revamp. Orgrimmar has long been leagues ahead haha. Not like Blizz needs to worry about revamping Darnassus or Undercity! And almost everyone agrees Thunderbluff and Ironforge are timeless, at least for now.
We have the good events like Winter Veil and Brewfest. I’d love to see Ironforge make room for the Dark Irons and if the gnomes are not going to have their own city, we need to make a proper space for them beyond that tiny section they call Tinker Town. We have the technology to dig deeper. Imagine levels below looking glorious with gems just like it does in Deepholm.
Just give us dwarves a ring to port directly back to Ironforge and the city will come to life again. (Why this is not a reward at exalted is beyond me.)

I still remember SW before it had a docks, panda zoo, cata port hub and jewel crafting trainer.
I’m old.

I feel like the war is going fairly well for Alliance. If it’s not about even between the factions, Alliance is ahead. For some godawful reason Blizzard has just painted the narrative, especially from Anduin, to be more bleak than it is.
In fairness, Orgrimmar isn’t as busy as Stormwind. It’s mostly dirt and canyon walls, with its buildings being more spread out and primal looking anyway. I feel like even if it’s an update ahead of Stormwind due to MoP or whatever that it’s not that noticeable. Maybe that’s just me not liking Orgrimmar though.
I wouldn’t say that people agree they’re “timeless”, just that there isn’t much uproar over them. People tend to ask for Silvermoon (and by extension Exodar) because they want to be able to fly in those zones and maybe not take a loading portal to get there. Awhile back Gnomes made a lot of hubbub about getting Gnomeregan as a city “before another Stormwind update”, which, fair enough because I’m pretty sure they’ve taken back at least the upper levels of it according to lore, but that sentiment has mostly died down it seems. TB and IF aren’t timeless, they’re pretty ugly, but there’s no mechanical or lore reason for an update like the other examples, and since SW/Org offer all the “main hub” benefits, the average player doesn’t care much about them.
If Stormwind does get a makeover, better pay the engineers this time or we’ll have another Defias coming outta the woodwork.

Org and SW really have not aged well, time for an upgrade!

In fairness, I think I remember reading that Varian -did- offer to pay them the agreed amount from his own coffers (since the nobles or whatever were all being idiots cus Onyxia), but they demanded a lot more than the agreed amount (because, again, Onyxia) which he didn’t pay.
TL;DR despite skullduggery, they were offered their pay. Defias existed solely because Onyxia.

I’d rather Silvermoon be updated, as well as them and Azuremyst being added to the Azeroth World Map before we get another Stormwind update.

If I recall correctly Varian was just trying to negotiate the deal between the nobles and the stonemasons, I don’t think he offered them any money at all, he was just trying to get order back in his city. Ultimately ending in him forcing all the stonemasons out of the city and into westfall where they turned to banditry out of a need to survive.
