Update on the Battle for Ashenvale and Layers - 12/14/2023

Now there’s people glitching out the bosses to insta-kill them in trashenvale. Lost an event because they did all 3 bosses at <5 min, and it seems like alliance are the only ones capable of doing it.

This is really interesting, and for once this is a long description of a problem that didn’t feel like it was obvious it would happen, or one that I could conceive of a solution.

Reading this post from start to finish I thought about a way to resolve the situation fluidly and realized I couldn’t think of one readily. It’s a lot of moving parts all fixing different issues and it’s refreshing to see difficult design decisions being tackled for a change rather than being left broken for extended periods.

To me this is a good sign of things to come if this same level of care and attention to detail and problem solving is leveraged across all aspects of Season of Discovery.

100% still happening. just got dumped off a winning layer into one that was over.

Maybe I missed something…
But…

Why can’t the countdown timer for the next battle only start after the full duration of the battle ended, regardless of victory or not… And just be synchronized globally progress wise all the time?

Or basically the battle lasts something like 30 minutes or an hour, whether you kill bosses or not… So just don’t start any of the progress on any layer for the next battle until that time limit for the previous game was reached.

For % on layers already finished just put “other battles still in progress”… It’s not like the progress bar even matters much anymore anyhow, the games are supposed to have a minimum of 2 hours between and a max of 3 hours between.

Just feels like you guys created more problems than needed for yourselves… Though I also realize that what’s simplest for real human/language comprehension, isn’t always the easiest to code

3 weeks later and nothing about fixing rep? Only a few weeks till Phase 2 and people who started late cant get exalted in time due to your changes. Either allow Ashenvale to get us to exalted and remove the limit. Or allow WSG lost battles to give some rep regardless of win/loss.

I was lucky enough to win a battle and got layered into another where the battle was still ongoing.

On Living Flame where Alliance outnumbers us, it’s like 60 - 40.

So there’s always layers where Horde is needed, and thus I was shoved into another battle because of how many Alliance were still around on other layers.

I won twice within one hour, lol.

I can’t complain, but at the same time I know that’s not how the event is supposed to work.
