There is not and never was faction balance.
Trusting for balance in war is a fatal fallacy.

Terrible suggestion.
WSG rep should be earned in WSG, not going afk in a PVE event.
I get that WSG rep is hard, and Ashenvale is a good way to ease it. But opening the floodgates because some people exploited it due to a design failure is terrible.
If anything, roll back any rep earned via exploit.
Lone Wolf is Alliance locked about 90% of the day.
Alliance win Ashenvale 100% during prime time in about 5 minutes.
I have to say I’m extremely underwhelmed by the Battle for Ashenvale. Hearing that there was going to be WPVP events was my main motivator to play SoD. After getting 25 a few days ago, I got some gear and was excited to hop in to Ashenvale last night. I was very disappointed to find that it was a boss killing race like AV, and 10 minutes later when the battle ended (overwhelmingly in my factions favor) after very little PVP, I instantly lost my drive to play this season. This has really taken the wind out of my sails for SoD.
There’s one population missing from the dynamic layering analysis - people who are behind in level and play less often! I cannot remember a time in the past 10 years of WoW, at any point, where the world actually felt lively at lower levels past the launch hype. Until now! Imo dynamic layering has been a huge success and I’m shocked it hasn’t always worked that way. I think it is really important to serve the long tail of more sporadic players in this way for long term success, nobody should ever have a lonely mmo experience if there is any possible way to avoid it. Please bring it back!
Why can’t they just collapse layers after the last battle at like 5am?
Ashenvale is just a way for people to be an AV ranker for wsg rep
This is a great point. One hour is about the limit at which people will stay in the zone. Maybe 90 minutes tops. But once you reach 2 hours people will start leaving to do other things planning to return in a few hours, which will lead to slower counter increases leading to 3 hours between events, and on and on.
IMO there needs to be a passive increase to the counter alongside kills. Otherwise it will spiral into a rare event, and once people hit their desired rep it will die off almost entirely.
I agree, I think Ashenvale will progress even slower now, due to people not wanting to wait in Ashenvale all day for the event to pop. You would have constant pvp in the zone due to always thinking the event is around the corner. Now you will have people, not all people, doing way less in ashenvale during downtime of the event.
Yep, the real solution is to award rep for losing WSG. The grind would be much easier if everyone got 100 rep + a mark. We might also see a decrease in premades if hitting exalted without one was reasonably possible.
current ashevale up to 3 hours now before starting
The number of people incorrectly banned in the first week of SOD has already destroyed this game mode for a ton of people. Took me over a week to get my spouse back in and after sitting out and watching this unfold we ended up just canceling. I hope something comes out of this, so that those handling such tasks stop making so many mistakes.
Blizzard is toxic. I’m sure that they don’t think that but they really are.
Devs, please rethink this approach, it’s significantly hurting players’ ability to gain reputation at a meaningful rate
Play on a PvE server, easy.
I know the devs take a lot of feces, but I’m honestly happy with how SoD has panned out so far. But, Ashenvale needs a major update and it needs to happen quick. The current changes being made are just going to discourage people from even going there outside of a few quest there.
Once again, without fail your solution is to punish new players.
Can’t Item Restore Crates? Too bad
Didn’t spam 10 minute Ashenvales? Too Bad
Didn’t get to farm dungeons with a Scorpid? Too Bad
Again and again you punish new players.
Have you guys considered making the layer list transparent in-game without addons and letting people queue to join a specific layer say in rested areas without having to try to find someone in a specific layer to invite you? The layer list could even show the % to “full” so you can see which layers are crowded and which are not.
I also think it should never forcibly move any player off a layer while the event is in progress especially whether they are solo or in a group or in combat or not (OOC players may have just killed a boss and are still participating in the event on that layer). If the layer is full and people are joining groups, it just shouldn’t let more people into the layer. You could even just show them an error message in chat saying they tried to join a layer that was full and won’t be able to join their groups layer at this time.
Cool beans. Thanks for the info! Ya’ll are doing a good job.
Why isn’t a PvP event more about PvP?
Think Arathi Basin rather than Alterac Valley.
