Update: For people having crashes running 2 wow clients at the same time

This was my previous post:
Ever since I reformatted last weekend with a fresh windows 11 install, 50% of the time when I load up my 2nd account, my main account just crashes or vice versa. Basically, the active wow client will just freeze until I force close it.

The things I’ve tried so far was to disable hardware acceleration on bnet client + chrome + discord since I read somewhere that this used to cause these issues though the posts were from circa 2019.

I’m not really sure what else it could be, my graphics settings in game did not change from the reformat since I keep my game separate from the main boot drive.

My specs are:

x470 Taichi motherboard
5900x
gigabyte 4090
32gb ram @3200

The only difference from a week ago and now is basically the fresh windows 11 install.

It seems like the only solution that has worked for me with this is running the game in compatibility mode for windows 8, unfortunately on Windows 11 there is no option to choose Windows 10 :frowning:

I could load up both clients without causing one to crash the other for over a week, however, the downside of this solution is that you are forced to play on dx11 instead of dx12, which means the game feels like it’s running on 50 or 60 fps locked (it does not feel smooth at all), but, it is a workaround.

At this point I can only point the likely culprit to be dx12 and windows 11 combined, since i did not have this issue on Windows 10 before I upgraded.

try to see if this works … load 1 client using wow.exe and 1 though the bnet launcher or forget the launcher and load the 2 clients with wow.exe

Starting last night I started experiencing this. When I’m running 5 characters, at some point one of them will freeze, and either it will DC or it will unfreeze. When it happens 3-5 of the accounts will DC. It’s not always all 5. Been working fine for the past week with no issues, and then around 9pm last night started happening.
