I went to login this morning and there was a small update now my PC restarts everytime I try and run the game I uninstalled everything and reinstalled hoping that would fix the issue. Then I did scan and repair in the same hopes. I ran other games and it is not happening so something with the update is causing these issues. For a game I pay to play this is literally stealing my money from me by not being able to access that in which I have paid for.
This is not literally stealing your money. I know it’s fashionable to use the word ‘literally’ in a facetious sense… but when you’re accusing someone of a crime, it’s best not to use fashionable slang. Literal stealing requires literal intent. There is no intent here.
If you want help, it’s best to just ask for help, instead of starting off with accusations of Blizzard “literally stealing your money.” If you feel that strongly then take your business elsewhere.
The only way Blizzard would be “literally stealing money” is for them to intentionally program something into the launcher or WoW so that it crashed when we tried to launch the game. You surely understand how silly that is. There are no other reports of this problem from others, so we’d have to go further and say that not only did Blizzard intentionally make it so that computers rebooted when WoW is launched… they did so only to you, personally. My apologies, but that’s nonsense.
Now, with that aside, what you’ve run into is a bug that isn’t necessarily a problem with WoW and, even if it is, certainly isn’t intentional. Playing other games and having no similar problems does not mean that the problem is something intentionally done on Blizzard’s end.
- Shut down your system manually, all the way. Then power back on. These “reboots” your machine is doing from launching WoW aren’t putting it through the proper cycle of shutdown → startup. Then check again.
- If it still happens, please make sure your video drivers are up-to-date. Install or update new drivers, reboot your machine, and try again.
- If it still happens, please make sure you’ve done any pending Windows updates. Let Windows do its thing and update, then try again.
- Completely uninstall WoW, and Battle.net, and re-install them. Then try again.
I am not trying to deflect blame, I’m just trying to take you through the process of fixing this reboot issue so you might be able to play. I hesitate to do this lately as many players are simply hellbent on putting all responsibility on Blizzard… but honestly that’s not going to help you play WoW.
To be honest, in my experience, computers that reboot out of nowhere, without an error message, and with no warning, are experiencing overheating issues or a grounding issue. Check to make sure your CPU, video card, and case fans are clean and pushing a good amount of air. Make sure no cables or wires have been accidentally caught in a screw or area otherwise making contact with your case.
Good luck.
I’m just curious… what cpu does your pc have?
