Update all of the Alliance & Horde cities & Azeroth

You know with it being 2025, and player housing coming soon I feel like Blizzard should do a texture and model update on most if not all of the Alliance & Horde cities.

And maybe overtime update Azeroths old landscapes to be more modern in terms of visuals.

I understand thats a big undertaking and would take a large development team. But I feel like with housing being implemented, an update to Azeroth (outdated zones) could prove beneficial for future content.

Shadow Pan Monastery has been covered in fel since Legion and was never cleaned up.

See, thats just it I feel like with the whole worldsoul saga unfolding, Azeroth should get a planetary update. Updating old areas of past adventures to show a more lived in visual of “this is what has been going on ever since prolonged peroid of time has lapsed”

I think anything from BFA to current shouldnt need too much work in updating the overall implications of “whats going on now”

But maybe WOTLK,Cataclysm,MOP and vanilla zones could see an update.

Fortunately the ironforge guards were updated. :world_map::robot:

I don’t think the words “modern” and “fantasy” can coexist.

Why are you intentionally misunderstanding him to invent a point of contention?

Obviously he’s talking about a modernized graphic design. Not a literal RL modern city in WoW.

I think it’s hard for them to justify putting the work into updating zones when there isn’t current content being played there.

Depending on how they implement the player housing though that might be enough justification for them to do some city revamps. I fully expect Silvermoon to get a facelift at least, and maybe the Draenei to build their flying city that was hinted at in the heritage questline. We’ll just have to wait until we get more Midnight news to know.

Why are you assuming that I am? He specifically said modern. I’m not attacking the OP, I’m merely stating an opinion.

Because your statement makes less than zero sense by any other interpretation.

Aren’t you the one who didn’t know what “scheduled” meant in that deleted thread, too?

It seems like quibbling over insignificant details is a thing with you. Maybe you should avoid social situations until you learn how to communicate better.

Please stop stalking me.

I doubt it would ever be considered, but just adding current crafting tables and a couple other small vendor/trainer updates to OG cities other than SW/Org (of course I’m thinking of IF, but the others, too) and some portals to them like in BfA, then people can chill in their favorite city and have a portal to get back to the “current” area (ie Dornogal right now). Of course this is wishful thinking, but hey, it would be kinda neat.

Being able to fly in The Belf and Draenei area’s would be cool.

They’re updating Silvermoon in Midnight so I imagine this is on the agenda, just give it time.

Be cool to have a functional gnomergan finally, considering we reclaimed it just a “few” years ago now

Write the Alliance cities in pencil.

It would be really cool. I never understood why they always add new undiscovered islands that every forgets about by next xpac. Theres plenty of unfinished story lines and content they could make in the old world.

I get that theyre probably weary because the cata revamp probably took a huge amount of resources and wasn’t received very well. But theres so many iconic old zones and cities that are just completely abandoned and unloved now.

I half suspect this is why TWW has been so empty, and mostly just busy work and even it’s story so sparce in progression, Warwithin is a prologue, where we’ll REALLY get some progress will be Midnight and especially The Last Titan, this makes the most sense also with past statements on how and when they design next expansions and lines up with the Microsoft acquisition and Kotick leaving.

I’d almost bet 5 bucks we see some floodgates opening on world development in at least a few regards.

Sort of the company’s fault, nobody asked them to destroy whole zones of content folks formerly liked, same with the Kul’tiran rig… also spent tons of money making a new skeleton, not well received. Well it’s not cause they’re fat humans, folks don’t mind that… it’s the lack of customization and for females specifically the reverse Night Elf faces on body type 2.

TLDR: [So a new face lift for the major cities? Fine, now what do we NOT want, next expansion / season, so we can have that instead.]

I spent my career working on large software projects for major computer manufacturers, things like operating systems, database systems, compilers, transaction systems etc.

We would put out a new version of our product on a regular basis, maybe one to two years each. So there was a development cycle.

At the beginning of the cycle the Product Manager for our product (liaison between us and Marketing) would come in with his list of “must haves”. He would put his list up, tell us he needed it all in 8 months, with only the people we had and everything on the list was priority 1. No exceptions.

And then we would laugh. Oh how we would laugh. And I’m talking double over knee slapping laughter. And he would laugh too because he knew that is exactly the reaction he would get.

So in the end it comes down to something simple. There is only so much money for development which means only so many people which means only so many development hours. If you want something and it’s important the question is always “Ok so what can we take off the list to put that on instead”.

Hence the TLDR, a new face lift for the major cities? Fine, now what do we NOT want, next expansion / season, so we can have that instead.

Honestly? Raiding/dungeons are always the lowest engagement metric according to a survey they did off Bnet an expansion ag0, so…educated answer? The raids/dungeons we get for that expansion. Instead we could divert THOSE resources to better explorable old AND more in-depth and interactive NEW zones for the expansion?

While we’re revamping the zones, a Boralus Sanctum of the Sages/Mage tower style nexus for accessing them as well to compliment the housing/updated zones.

Raids and instanced content also tend to be the least engagement per resource form of content, it lasts like a month or two then nobody does it. It’s almost practically a safe cut.

I don’t see the connection.

I mean, obviously housing is going to be in its own bespoke instances, not just dropped in the middle of existing zones across the world.
