It was not back in BC, Noise.

On both sides. Since in Retail WoW the skill ceiling is pathetic, and back in BC there was very little rating inflation mechanisms. They just didnt have all the garbage like personal rating in the way.

@Gungarg

Enh objectively lost its class identity by going to dual wield. Dual wielding is not how you get across the message of an Elemental Warrior crushing enemies with physical power enhanced through shocking storms flames flashing into freeze only to shatter under the weight of an earth shock.

You dont peck someone to death with your little hatchet as an Elemental Warrior. You crush them with a two handed maul that weighs as much as their entire pathetic body engulfed in flames.

The facts are the facts. A class is NOTHING if it abandons its roots, its origin. Warriors are nothing without stance dancing. Rogues are nothing without stealth mechanics. Hunters are nothing without bows and pets. Priests are nothing without power words. Paladins are nothing without their blessing mechanics. And Shamans, Enhancement shamans specifically, are nothing without two handed BIG Windfury procs. Because that is where they come from, that is their roots. Everything else should be designed around that. Enhancing themself and their allies with totems, two hander, STRENGTH based spec. You sure didnt stack flipping agility on an Enh shaman back in the day. You got every bit of str mail you could find, leather if you had to. 2 melee ap per strength. 0 melee ap from agi.

Enh Shamans were a Strength based 2 hander spec.

I do know this it was in vanilla when I first one shot a dwarf paladin that was 9 levels higher than I was in wsg. He stunned me and got 2 melee attacks on me I turned on wf and watched him drop like a freaking rock. He ran from me for the rest of the bg. I know all about Shamans using 2h weapons and using strength.

But then blizzard decided that we were an agility class. We still had 2h weapons but it wasn’t as easy to do. I will say I do love the dw shaman. But I also want the choice of 2h weapons. I also want all 3 shocks back. with the ss interaction they had.

And I still think Thunderfury was meant for Shamans and that we should access to swords its been long enough. The fact that we only have one legendary to transmog which is a healing mace.

I agree with this sentiment. I don’t think the pruning was a bad thing.

I do not agree removing shocks from Enhancement shaman was a mistake.

AND became a VIABLE dps option

Yeah what’s more viable about it now than when it was 2h? It’s still one of the worst melee in the game and completely out shined by Ele in every aspect. So explain please

Woah there lets not undersell Blizz’s efforts to fix Enh’s major issues from Vanilla such as its horrendous mana consumption to dmg ratio via mana regen proc on melee hits, crits reducing the cost of shocks by 45%, Sham Rage also regening mana on melee swing on top of dmg reduction, Stormstrike going from a 20secs cd to 8secs, and lets not forget Mental Quickness giving us a AP -> SP conversion. All these things are why Enh was far better in BC than it was in Vanilla NOT bc of DW.

Self healing being gutted is why they are bad in PVP not becasue of DW vs 2H. And they are FAR from worst melee in the game. They arent faceroll like your toon of choice but then again we cant all be. Some players actually enjoy playing a slighly complex gamestyle instead of drooling over the keyboard.

So You are saying that after all those stated changes 2H was more viable in a PVE setting than DW??? Lets all remember that this game is a Raiding game first and everything else is a side game.

No I’m saying that with or without 2h or DW it was major changes like what I listed that made Enh viable in PvE.

Was 2H even used in PVE after those changes??

You’re new around here aren’t you?

I’ve been around since Vanilla, and I’m telling you when they release this level of information about classes, the only thing that changes until release is tweaking of numbers. And the first reply every time to posts like the OP’s is someone complaining about the OP jumping to conclusions when release is so far away.

I’m telling you sonny boy, you aren’t getting any other shiny new toys. The OP is trying to change that by whining and starting a conversation. It’s the only way Santa is coming to town for Shaman.

Specifically with that patch when you could DW and 2H, the itemization was messed up. There weren’t as many agility two handers and you had to borrow
from the pool of weapons set aside for rogues.

As far as damage and tuning, 2H was alright for PvE. The major issue was feast/famine with procs. You’d fish constantly for the WF procs, which is pretty much just as it is described currently, where you’re fishing for procs to maintain your resource pool of maelstrom.

Considering it’s tuning, it’s a tractable problem, but it’s a design they didn’t wish to pursue. And considering it’s a separate design, I heavily doubt Blizzard will dedicate time bringing it back.
