Shaman:
Totems are returning for all specializations: Healing Stream Totem, Searing Totem, Tremor Totem and Capacitor Totem.
Primal Strike and Frost Shock are once again available to all specializations.
–
Death Knights:
Raise Dead is once again available to all specializations.
Summon Gargoyle is now baseline for all specializations instead of a talent.
Anti-Magic Zone is now baseline for all specializations instead of a PvP talent.
Im… In awe. Genuine awe.
Death knights are getting a previously unholy only major offensive cooldown, a basic offensive cooldown and a major raid defensive cooldown baseline.
Shamans… I mean shoot, tremor and cap totems are already baseline for all specs. Primal Strike isnt even a real ability, it was added when they decided open GCDs was a bad thing for some dumbarse reason. It exists to fill a void until you got earthbiter, so re-adding it is like… literally dumb. There’s no place for it. Frost shock being re-added to enh is like a +1% quality of life change, doesnt really help.
Which means what shamans are ACTUALLY getting back is… minor damage fire spit totem and minor heal a person over time totem. The fliping what the Sam Hell you say? Actually flopping Stone Cold Steve Austin WHAT? shirt What? Where’s Ascendance? Where’s elemental blast baseline? Where’s… ANYTHING?
Go back to the drawing board. You are drunk if you think this is an unpruning for Shamans. Two weak low impact persistent totems that will only remind Shamans why in the past we had a button that dropped 4 totems at once. DPS shaman has been a consistent under performer in every category in both its caster and melee forms for half a decade now. The only reason they were half-decent in BFA season 1 PvP is because they countered mages, and you squelched that something fierce to protect your precious Mage Baby Glads.
Just go back to WOD Shaman. Back when we had a decent number of totems, a mix of elemental spells and physical attacks and a flavor of our own. Crash Lightning is an abomination that needs to be put down in Ny’lotha with N’Zoth. What does it say about my spec right now(Enh) that I cant do meaningful damage without more than one target present every 6 seconds to use my… supposedly aoe attack on?
Posts like these are getting old. Shadowlands is a year away and not every detail is set in stone, as we have literally a slide’s worth of information currently.
As for the underperforming comment, one of the two dps specs have been relevant in a majority of raiding tiers and PvP the last five years. Also, pretty sure general consensus is that crash lightning is just fine as an AoE ability.
Get a title then claim the class is relevant, judging by your profile youre hardstuck 1800 in Arenas and dont do RBGs.
There is nothing wrong with being mediocre at the game until you try to claim any authority in commenting on the viability of a class. I got Grand Marshal as Enh this expansion. Duelist as Enh last expansion. Not the best but youre not even within 500 rating of where I was playing and trying to tell me my class was ‘okay’.
Youre daft. Youre just a blizzard apologist, claiming Shamans shouldnt complain about being quantifiable the weakest class in PvP right now. It all boils down to one simple fact. If youre in a 2400 rated 3v3 match and you see an Enhancement shaman, you will train it til the game ends. If youre in an RBG and you see an Enhancement Shaman, you will call it out as a kill target unless a fire mage is G pyroing. And at that point its not because the shaman is an undesirable kill target, its because the mage is threatening.
Shamans have the weakest self healing of almost any dps, ironic considering they are supposed to be a hybrid healer, they have the most telegraphed and counter-able offensive cooldowns in the game. They have possibly the weakest out of cds pressure in the game, but only ele spikes high enough to make up for it in burst output. They bring weak utility, purge is very bad in modern WoW because of all the trash buffs making it take 6 purges to get a bop off on average…
But Im wasting my breath typing this. Since you dont play at a decent rating you dont experience these kinds of problems. Youre still learning your dps rotation. Which is fine, no slight on you, but until you experience what its like to be a helpless 2100 shaman against some demon hunter who outheals you in the post game when youre keeping up earth shield 24/7 and spamming healing surge every 5k mana… THEN youll know how bad Enh is. And when you try to run from a rogue as an ele shaman, ending half your matches against rogue-mage without getting a single hard cast off… in a match you WIN because they fubar it up, THEN you will understand how badly designed shaman is as a class.
I mean this genuinely. Go set some time aside and grind rating. Its eye opening. Back when I was a forever 1600 scrub I used to have all kinds of wrong opinions about the games design. Then I realized how much I didnt know and didnt experience when I climbed rating and it really made me feel foolish for past comments.
i’m sorry are you implying you enjoy dead gcds? LMAO
at this point ascendance and lightning shield are pretty much mandatory baselines imo
access to root totem and ancestral guidance would go a long way
and feral lunge/hailstorm being baseline would really just make the game better
Highest 3 man personal rating : 2143
simmer WAAAAAY down newplayer
enhance was one of, if not the best spec in the game in dread season (i got glad on 3 different enhances in dread mwturbo and sv/enh/hpal)
next to rsham-(earthenwall) and dh/spriest/moonkin in the meta
enhance was VERY VERY good almost all of legion
s15 turbo was good
wods3 turbo was good
s1 turbo was T1
s3 turbo was T1
s5 turbo/ww enhance was T1
s6/7 turbo and ww/enhance were both very very r1 viable
not even true
i opted to kill mw in a 2400 turbo game the other day because lucid/fury of air with 2 tank trinkets actually makes enhance really durable against melee
obviously enhance loses to dh cleaves solely because of mana and struggles vs rogue/mage and even destro more than dh/dk/arms making it not meta but very very bfa glad viable
infact some of the worst enhances i can think of like taowth have glad this season
you are a very very very new not even consistent 2k player
simmer WAAAYY down friend
The saying goes “History repeats itself” or “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat itself”. When was the last time Shamans looked promising going into an expansion pre beta/alpha and even into live, as someone who’s been playing WoW since 2005, I can tell you it’s not looking good for Shamans.
Ok, so let’s break this down…
Adding cooldowns (and pet with garbage AI) to the base DK spec means the intended damage cap has to take them into consideration.
Anti-Magic zone is nice, I guess.
Really, do not expect much of the unpruning to be as exciting as advertised.
No do not go back to wod go back to Mist Shaman when we had shocks that interacted with ss. And we had more abilites that interacted. I hate that they removed Earth Shock and Flame shock from enhancement and I want them back.
This is your issue mate, we don’t look like anything because we only have bare-bones information. If we end up looking terrible, that’s fine and we can talk about it then. But all this whining from all these people right now is hilarious.
You seem to be extremely triggered that no ones agreeing with your sad take on SL. If your highest rating while actually trying is 2100 that’s sad too, and of course enh is dead in PvP this tier that’s beyond obvious lol. Learn to read as I clearly stated “one of the two” and not both. I’ve only PvP’d this expac for C&S, and it’s hard to say I’m “learning my rotation” when I’m literally a top 100 elemental globally and top 25 US in mythic raiding lol.
Trying to tell me “how much I don’t know” is hilarious. Only one going to feel foolish is you for typing that s***stain of a reply lmao
You’re the prime example of “can’t cure stupid”, if people have a reason to whine and complain it means it’s true. So saying people are whining just “because” is completely false and inaccurate.
If you’ve played a shaman at all from TBC to now you’d know how fubard Shamans get. Hell remember that “revamp” that they were suppose to get last year cause they got fubard pretty damn hard the last half of Legion, yea it did nothing.
Then you have the issue that shamans are one of the least played classes in the game with MNK being the only one beating it. There’s a reason for it, not just cause people are fussing over nothing, when in reality it’s cause the history shamans have in wow (fyi it ain’t pretty).
Look in mirror. There is a slideshow of information on unpruning, making a guess is fine but you can’t make definitive statements with so little info and take yourself seriously.
You linked wowprog, what metric are you even looking at? Look at warcraftlogs bud (good try tho.) I’m done arguing with old dudes tho, talk to Thanen if you need more info on that. Have a good one.
I just feel that there are better improvements to the gameplay than resurrecting totems. And many of the benefits we have had since MoP is not because we gained more totems, but because they actually focused on improving our core gameplay unsaddled by such a concern.
During the announcement at Blizzcon, when they said totems, I asked “Which totems?”. When people say, “tremor and capacitor totem”. I go, “You don’t play, because we have those totems”
Look, the idea of having more abilities is interesting and all, but I really don’t feel like the totems are the things that they need to integrate and bring back for most shaman unless everyone just enjoys having 1 second GCDs wasted as an upkeep tax while playing the game for each of the sticks.
And I hardly think they’ll introduce a totem management system just for one class that regularly, historically gets reviewed in alphabetical disorder after Warlocks. It took from Vanilla to late TBC just for a means to dismiss totems. And then another expansion just to have in-game UI element that was worse than user created add-on.
Searing Totem >> Just better integrate the damage into existing abilities
I’d be first in line to say, sure yeah Searing totem would be nice, but when it comes down to the bits and bolts of what it actually added to the gameplay, it was a little annoyance that added complication to what amounts to being an uncontrollable DoT on a stick. It’s the sole claim to fame is being annoying to rogues trying to cap a flag while its father was sapped in the very same room.
Give flame shock DoT functionality to flametongue, and take it off the cooldown for elemental but with a limitation to 3 targets at any given time or charges.
Healing Stream Totem
Passive healing? You think with the way that M+ scaling, raiding, PvP and heck your WQs, that stationary passive healing is a feature for why people would like to bring the shaman. “This stick is going tinkle some healing on people and save them all!”, they’ll cry out from the announcer table.
Why not revive Lightning Shield’s distinctive look back into the class and expand upon Earth Shield as a base kit feature. Earth shield could provide +3% healing received from all sources for the recipient and shake up the meta. It’d be more agency and a much more active ability than Healing Stream totem.
I miss looking across the battlefield and being the distinctive character because of the spell effect orbiting my character.
The argument you make is what happens at every single expansion. No class changes but Shadowlands is a year away were still good. Its 6 months away were still good. Beta is open but were still good, 1 month away were still good. Next thing you know, shadowlands is here and there has been no changes to shaman and were in the shiitter for another expansion. We need to talk about it now not later. Oh wait for 9.1, they’ll update shaman in the first major patch. Bullshiit your get a bandaid fix and a water walking buff and that’s it. Happens every expansion because people like you criticize people who open their mouth and want changes. We need to start discussions now
…discussions about what exactly. There is literally close to no class information outside of (for the upteenth time) word of mouth and a few slides from a slideshow. There’s no topic to discuss, as no information is currently available. It’s like yelling at clouds. It’s people complaining to complain, when there’s barely any info to complain about yet. Get what I’m saying?
When alpha launches and information is updated and released, etc. by all means that is the time to start giving feedback. But right now it’s just “I want more X and Y” without ever specifying what X and Y are, or both variables are completely left-field and in no way grounded in reality.
I meant we need to start saying that we aren’t happy with the current state of shaman and want changes. The more we talk about it the higher chance blizzard will do something about it
