I am glad Blizzard is taking a look at racial abilities.
Here are my suggestions to make every combat racial feel good for their users (note that these are for PvE purpose, but I’m being careful not to break anything PvP related):
Will of the Forsaken: In the current game, a fear/sleep/charm break is very seldom useable, and even when it happens, it is not that good to have. It is too niche. You are never going to use this every 2min
Fix: Give it an extra, more generic effect so that it can be used defensively when you don’t need the cc break. Something like some% leech for a few seconds.
Quaking Palm: Melee range, single target, incapacitate effect (breaks immediately on any damage). It used to be okay before as a cast stop, but it got indirectly weaker with the TWW spell stop change.
Fix: Give it an extra useful effect. I think it should debuff the target with “Weakened Reflexes” or “Drowsy” for a few seconds. The debuff could do one of the following:
Increased damage taken
Increased chance to be critically struck
Reduce damage dealt
Reduced attack speed and spell casting speed
Regeneratin’: I think they are taking a step in the right direction with this one, but the tuning sounds off. 50% health over 6s of channeling is still a large time investment for a pretty measly reward AND it still breaks on direct damage.
Fix: If you are going to keep this at 50%, it should not break on damage at all and the channel time should be faster (over 4s maybe?)
I don’t see a reason to crank to cooldown to 3 min either.
PS: While we’re talking about Zandalari, their glider racial has no business being on a 15 minutes cooldown and restricted in instances in a world where Dracthyr exists as a race.
Arcane Pulse: The damage will still be meaningless with the 300% buff, and the 3 min cd is still quite prohibitive. Maybe reduce it to 2.5 or even 2 minutes.
And that would be it. I think the other changes are fine for making other combat racials more compelling.
Alternative fix: delete combat racials, but that would be boring now wouldn’t it?
